Beautiful building, beautiful food with excellent staff, the second time we've been there and once again it didn't disappoint,.

Afternoon tea a bit overpriced £39 for 2. Need to look at other competitors to bring the price in line

Booked this place based on the reviews. Beautiful building and ambience inside. Excellent service and friendly staff, the food was also superb. Would definitely recommend this establishment and can't wait for a return visit when next in the area.

My family and I went for Sunday lunch Yesterday (12th Sept.) and have never been more disappointed over a meal. Three of us ordered roast beef which turned out to be so tough that you could not even cut it never mind chew it, we...complained and were given steak knives and the meal taken away to be cooked more. When returned the meat was still inedible , the roast potatoes were under cooked and cold and one plate the potato was black both inside and outside. The vegetables were also cold and under cooked in fact the hottest thing about the meal was the plate itself.. Thankfully we were not charged for two of the meals. In all a most disgusting experience and one we shall not be having again if at all.More

At a very vulnerable time tried to book for a funeral wake and breathtakingly incompetent would be a compliment. Telephoned, left details, said they would come back to us next day. That came and went so the day after went to see them. Manager tried...to fob me off stating that the staff 'were too busy' so went straight to the function room. Lo and behold in there 2 staff behind the bar doing absolutely nothing and another 3 staff standing talking. Made representation, informed that we had made an enquiry. The 'manager' looked this up on a tablet and told me that they had the enquiry and would come back to us on Monday, this was Friday which was already 2 days after the initial contact. Explained that at this point we just wanted to confirm availability and was told that the diary was up in the office and we would be contacted Monday. I asked why, as there was 5 members of staff standing around doing nothing why somebody couldn't just look now? It was abundantly clear that they were playing a waiting game and if another larger party enquired for the same day we would be bumped. You have been warned, book this venue and it's a gamble if you actually secure the booking.More

The whole setup was brilliant as usual and the staff are top notch. My wife has lived on the Wirral all her life and I for 43 years and in our opinion The Red Fox is the best restaurant on the Wirral.

I had the fishcakes for a 'main meal' , I did get the smaller portion, however, it was sold as a main meal and was £11. When it arrived it was 1 small fishcake and probably 2 spring onions, it was definitely small. I can't...believe they charge £11 for 1 fishcake. We went as a treat as it was a special occasion, so I didn't want to make a fuss, however, if I had just gone for a meal, there is no way I would of paid for the small side plate of 1 fishcake. Avoid , unless you want to go home hungryMore

Lovely food and good service. The red fox is in a really nice location with lots of space to sit outside too. Calamari and pate starters really nice. Sea bass and cod mains also good but roast dinner rather ordinary. Puddings really nice, especially the...option to have a mini pudding and a coffeeMore

Writing on behalf of my mum who visited with friends. They had (another) fabulous meal in beautiful surroundings. Highly recommended. In addition to this review, I'd like to further offer our appreciation to the fabulous staff who went above and beyond when my mum fell...ill shortly after the meal was finished. Thank you doesn't really cover it.More

The inside is all on one level and lots of space for wheelchair. Disabled parking available. Didn't notice lift but wasn't looking for one.
