This is a sort of continuation from my post of yesterday, where even making a reservation at another restaurant was impossible. I called the Remona and in my bad Spanish was able to make a reservation for the same afternoon. As is the case in most of the scenic villages in this region during the hight of the summer holiday time, parking was close to impossible. We managed to find the very last spot (which probably was not a designated parking place) and still had to walk a very long way to the restaurant. I'm sure my accent gave us away, but the man who greeted us knew right away who we were and showed us to our table which was tastefully set. He appeared to be in charge and offered us menus in Spanish, English and German. The restaurant has two eating areas, a small area upstairs near the bar and hotel reception with a wonderful view to the mountains where we ate and a larger room downstairs. From the sounds we were hearing it must have been quite a bit larger. My husband ordered a beer on draft and I a Rioja. The waiter offered me taste, and I found it very strong and biting. He immediately brought two more different wines for me to try. The third was a hit! My husband ordered a braised beef dish and I ordered the lamb. I was told the lamb would take ten minutes longer which was no problem for us, however we appreciated his concern. Both dishes were very tastey! The french fries were a tad soggy, but that was probably due to the sauce in both meals. We ended our lunch with one dish of ice cream and a three chocolate layered something, that was delicious. I will say that while we were there, at least twenty people came in looking for a table and they were turned away unless they had a reservation. I guess we called for a table just under the line. I can highly recommend the Remona on all points, food, ambiance, and hospitality. Just remember to call ahead and leave time to find a place to park.

They welcomed us for lunch almost after hours. Thanks to their commitment to serving all the diners, I was able to observe how the staff did not eat until all the clients who shared the room with us were served at dessert, this was almost at 6:00 p.m. They showed us exquisite kindness, correct and professional treatment. The room in which we were treated was very cozy, quiet, large table (circular) with beautiful views of the mountain. Upon accessing the services (2nd basement) I could see that there was another room with the same characteristics but views of the other part of the valley. I thought the food was very good, especially We were looking forward to trying the cheesecake for which they seemed to have been awarded in the past and for which I was able to hear good reviews from a nearby table. The price seemed right to me. The dish I liked the most was the beans with chorizo, more than the Remoña beans. To add a 'but', since the bread is not included in the service, they should have asked if we wanted to consume it before serving it.

We came from a route with our dog, since we could not enter with her we asked for a cheese board on the bar with the intention of eating it on the terrace tables outside. They won't let us, they won't let us eat outside... just drink. Nonsense rules

We did not stay at the Hostal as my brother owns a small house in the village itself, however we ate there on our last night in Spain. All I can say is that it was the best steak (sirloin) that I have ever had in any restaurant anywhere. My son and his girlfriend had a chuletón (rib of beef) between them which was amazing and an experience in itself! You use a hot griddle placed on the table effectively to cook it to your liking after it has been sealed and cut up in the kitchen. As starters we had chorizo and, separately, artichokes both of which were delicious! I do not eat a great deal of meat nowadays and if I do I am very conscious of where it comes from and how the animals are kept. The restaurant prides itself on this, they own their own livestock, as stated in its menu, and that the produce cooked ‘travels 0 kilometres’ which says it all. The staff were kind and totally attentive, the drinks lovely and as is so often the custom in Spain, we were provided with a free nightcap at the end of the evening. Brilliant, and a big thank you to you all!

It is a restaurant Inn very close to Fuente De, with a concept of proximity deeply rooted in everything they do. You can tell they think and take care of the environment. We were advised to try the Ace dish, the baked lebaniego, and to share some croquettes, the tongue (I was surprised) and homemade desserts (cheesecake, torrija,...). I will love to come back when we return through Cantabria. Besides, and the icing, they have Almerian ties.

Restaurant located in the middle of Picos de Europa (Cantabria side) very close to the village Fuente De. The restaurant has a good menu and they serve local cuisine. The staff is very friendly and look after the children. They have a “km0” tap water from a local manantial, which it is a nice water although a bit expensive 2,2€ per 750 ml. No Free refill Croquettes are delicious and fry egg with chorizo is nice, the one with “serrano ham” is not worthy. Cocido - it is serves in 2 phases, first is the soap with “fideos”. The taste of it is just great however the fideos are over cooked so they are not good. The last part, the chickpeas and “compango”. They are all local products and good quality Dessert- coffee and white chocolate “flan” must be always one of your choices. Just brilliant! Cheesecake is nice however you will find better one in this area.

We stopped by chance because we were already late for lunch and it was a surprise. The place is super cozy as well as the attention. We ate wonderfully, the stew had a lot of flavor and the meat was tender and just right. A treatment of ten and the restaurant taken care of in detail. A great discovery

By far the best food we had on our two week trip to Spain. We actually talked to two other couples on our hike who saw us there at dinner and said they came from other hotels because the food at Hostel Remona was so good. Locally sourced and delicious.

My family and I finally got to try the cocido lebaniego in this Cantabrian institution. The result: our expectations were more than exceeded. It was strange time to visit, in the middle of a global pandemic, so we actually enjoyed it even more than in usual circumstances. Normally I would give a longer review, but I will just say this: it is the best cocido un Cantabria. I have tried many restaurants in my region, so has my Canadian family....and we have not been impressed by any of them as much as this one in particular. I'm talking about dozens of restaurants(we like our cocido in this family:)). On top of the extraordinary quality of the food, the service and attention was impeccable. Every aspect of our visit was thoroughly enjoyed. We can't wait to go back. Thanks again Peña Remoña.

What a great place to stay. Everything was very good. Comfortable beds, great shower, clean rooms, delightful hosts, fantastic food, cold artesanel beer, and an extensive wine list. The breakfast was the best we have ever had in Spain. The owner drove us to Potes and picked us up several hours later. We cannot thank him enough. Thoroughly recommend this as a place to stay. We stayed 2 nights.

I don't know what happens to certain tourist businesses with tourists... Zero kindness from the restaurant manager... sorry for bothering you by asking you for a coffee and a couple of liquors, eh? It was not my intention to bother you (5 in the afternoon and the restaurant was empty)... it's a shame because we were in the town for 5 days and after this experience we ran away from going to lunch or dinner.
