Yumi, the owner, is the gracious host at Agave. Stopped with some friends and had a blast. Singapore, Sapporo, Mexico, Australia and the US were there to meet. Give it a try.

Mexican style lounge bar with over 400 kinds of tequila, a nice selection of cocktails and beer too. The cocktails are really well done. A little pricey but worth it for true tequila lovers...

Went here for some drinks the other night. Cool looking place. They have four hundred different tequilas. Margaritas were only ok. However, the place looked authentic inside and was full of Japanese. Worth a drink if you are in the neighborhood during a weekday.

Basement bar with somewhat overpriced drinks. There was a smell of swage in the place that ranged from faint to pungent. Other than that the decor was nice.

Beautiful tequila bar underneath a Mexican restaurant, cocktails were tasty and the staff very attentive. Only con was that like a number of bars and eateries patrons can smoke indoors. But a great venue for a few drinks with friends.

This is down in a basement accessed through a small door, you need to know where you are going. We went with friends and had a good time, although it worked out quite expensive all in all.

I've been in Mexico last year, but felt as I were back at this place. Great collection of tequilas and mezcals, Mexican food and all accompanied by great atmosphere, Mexican food and English speaking staff!

I love this bar and have been coming here for a couple of drinks with friends and by myself when I stay in Tokyo. Great ambience when not packed with drunken, notoriously noisy "salary-man" - meaning it's best coming here during the week, not weekends. Bartenders are quite knowledgeable, professional and friendly in a non-invasive manner. I always enjoy talking with them when I go by myself. I learned a lot from them about their impressive collection of tequilas and mezcals - the last time I visited, one of them explained to me the subtle transition of label design of my favourite tequila over the past 10 years, which I didn't even notice until they showed me the bottles from different years! If you love aged spirits like whiskey and brandy, you might want to try some aged tequila as well (called añejo - ah-nyeh-ho). Don't forget to tell the bartender what kind of taste you like (you may need a Japanese speaking friend to achieve perfect communication). Letting them know your budget may also be a good idea - (some rare ones can be a wallet-breaker) :) They also offer a reasonable collection of cigars (Cuban ones are good). Enjoy!

In the seven years I've lived in Tokyo, I've never received such bad service or blatant discrimination against gaijin/non-Japanese people. What could have been a lovely evening in a nice atmosphere was ruined by awful service from an incredibly rude waiter who made it quite apparent that he did not approve of our group. Despite the fact that we spoke in Japanese, and ordered a reasonable amount of drinks, we were treated with a bizarre combination of harassment and an obvious and purposeful disregard to our requests. The staff had no issues with the table of Japanese salary men next to us. Considering that there was no language barrier, I can only amount this to a bigoted intolerance of anyone who is not Japanese, and I would suggest to visitors to take their business else where. The margaritas where average at best.

We came here on recommendation from Lonely Planet. Their signature cocktail is the Negro Charro: Coke and Tequila. It tastes about as good as it sounds. I tried ordering in Spanish, but the waiter was having none of it. Seemed like a popular choice with the locals, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Once inside, you would never know your in Tokyo. (This may be a good thing if you are a little homesick.) This hidden gem is one of the best little tequila bars in the world. But what makes it truly exceptional is the quality of the drinks! They serve some of the best margaritas I've ever had (and I've had many more than a few). Handmade (no mixers), fresh, clean, AND STRONG. The Herradura reposado was not merely breezed over the top of the glass but landed firmly in it! The bar is downstairs (i.e., underground, with no windows), a block or so away from Roppongi crossing and station. So it is close to anyone staying in Minato. I hope to return!

This is one of my favorite bars in Tokyo. I strongly recommend you to visit there if you like tequila. They offer hundreds of tequila and the atomosphere of the bar is very special. The price is not cheap but I am very satisfied with drinks and atomosphere.
