Teppanyaki in the Grand Hyatt, Roppongi Hills. It's also possible to order seasonal ingredients displayed in a market-like manner, and it's a very exclusive space with a nice look. This time I got a certificate from an acquaintance and ordered this special lunch course menu. The menu is as follows. ■ Today's appetizer ■ 3 kinds of teppanyaki vegetables ■ Domestic beef sirloin ■ Garlic rice miso bowl pickles ■ Today's dessert ■ Coffee or tea It's a classic menu of seasonal vegetables, domestic beef sirloin, garlic rice and teppanyaki, but everything is delicious. It is very exhilarating to see them grilled on a spacious iron plate. Incidentally, during dessert, the place can be moved to the terrace seats and enjoyed in an open space. It's good for dates and celebrations, not to mention the quality, but also the overall volume and the atmosphere.

I’ve only been to Japan twice but the experience was so good the first time, I booked to revisit keyakizaki. I’m glad to report it was still excellent. Prices have risen but they have everywhere. It was a lovely experience, the food, ambiance and teppanyaki.

We had high expectations given the reviews but unfortunately the restaurant failed to hit the mark this evening. We ate counter-side and it was clear that our chef did not have the same attention to detail as others and, in a number of cases, was rushing. For example he asked how we wanted our beef cooked. We responded medium and we got bleu to rare. The garlic (for the garlic fried rice) was cooked for only 5 seconds which left it having a sharp taste. Where as the cook beside us worked his for about 30 seconds. Same goes for the small pieces of beef for the rice which should be crispy. We asked for the beef to be recooked given how underdone it was which, in Japan, would normally elicit an apologetic response. In this case we got a somewhat brusque OK. It then ended up (as twice cooked beef is) being dry. The beef itself came in two pieces. One large and the other small. The latter looked like an irregular cut and had a large piece of fat running thru the middle (not tender intramuscular fat) which was tough. Also some of the dishes are very highly priced such as JPY3,300 for 3 types of vegetables. We had pumpkin, sweet corn and peppers — which are quite basic. In this case all were slightly over cooked with the corn drowned in butter. The cook next to us was seen draining off excess butter. All the more disappointing is we changed our reservation to Keyakizaka at the last moment. We left feeling we’d made a mistake as the competition would likely have been better. This would have been average for a mass market restaurant but I’ve rated it poor given the price point.

Lunch set for 10k JPY. Amuse. Scallops. Foeis gras. A4 beef. Rice. Dessert. Each course was amazingly prepared in front of us. Staff were more than friendly and used to foreigners. Would recommend for a high end teppanyaki experience.

The lunch course is always reasonable. It’s around 8000¥ each with welcome drink. Their service and foods are always fantastic, of course the beef is wonderful but my partner and me are huge fan of garlic rice! So good! When we make a reservation for this on the internet, just selected for the reason to visit is anniversary, and they surprised us with beautiful dessert plates for each.

This is our 3rd visit to Keyakizaka in 6 years, and found the food and service as impeccable as ever. It’s definitely pricey, but worth every yen. The need options are mind blowing and even though we felt we couldn’t eat another bite, as soon as we got back to our apartment, we were already wishing we had more!

Keyakizaka is the teppan-yaki restaurant in the Grand Hyatt, Roppongi Hills. It's reached by a staircase from the 6th floor, discreetly located in a corner on the 4th floor, next to the bridge to the shopping mall. The teppan-yaki was very good, though perhaps not the best we've had in Japan. What made the place special was the very friendly service by the young server, Suzuki-san. She had spent time in Australia to brush up her English and evidently was keen to practice on us gaijin. Definitely to be recommended.

Went there for lunch and the entire group walked out with a big smile on our faces feeling extremely satisfied. Couldn’t say enough good things about their wagyu steak that simply melted in our mouth (and equally tasty appetizers and dessert). If only one thing to improve, that would be the unclear signs leading to this restaurant. It took us more than 15min to find this place after arriving at the hotel!

Dear jacjac0120, Thank you for dining at Keyakizaka. We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed your lunch and truly honored to be mentioned as one of the best wagyu steaks you have had. However, we apologize that the signs leading to the restaurant were unclear. The restaurant is indeed a bit hidden so our hotel staff are always happy to guide our guests directly to the restaurant to avoid any confusion. Thank you very much once again for taking the time to share your comments with us and we are looking forward to seeing you very soon. Grand Hyatt Tokyo KEYAKIZAKA Manager Tadahiro Osawa

An innovative teppanyaki spot serving up an array of seasonal meats, seafood, poultry and vegetables, Keyakizaka mixes and matches with an international selection of flavours and influences. The fresh produce displayed inside the restaurant is a great idea as diners can select whatever looks good and the chefs will use the ingredients you picked in your meal. Ask for a seat at the counter in front of the main chef in the middle and try a set menu. - The Luxe Voyager

Elegant with high ceiling, glass and timber, this is a large tempayaki restaurant with many chefs, all dressed smartly in their white tall hats and uniforms. The service and presentation was good what with all the superb showmanship cooking each dish with style. But the taste of many of the dishes in our courses left a great deal to be desired. The ingredients were good but the chef could not deliver the Balance and great taste expected in this fine dining restaurant. One dish came out confused and utterly sour, another came out flat and tasteless, and another was the worst representation of this category of Japanese cooking which even a humble eating house could do well as it is comfort food. A lot of show but unable to deliver.

Dear Haebee, Warm greeting from Grand Hyatt Tokyo. Thank you very much for dining at Keyakizaka and for providing us with your valuable feedback. It is only through feedback such as yours that we are able to maintain and improve our offerings. We are so happy to read that you enjoyed the design of the restaurant as well as the level of service provided. However, we deeply apologize that the food did not meet your expectations. As you mentioned, we use top quality ingredients so if this was a matter of the ingredients not being prepared properly, this is something we are most certainly able to improve. We have already shared your feedback with the chef de cuisine and our team so we could retrain our staff to ensure that our customers have an amazing dining experience every time. We sincerely hope that you will give us another opportunity to show you that this is not the typical experience at Keyakizaka. Thank you once again for your valuable feedback and we are looking to welcoming you back in the near future. Sincerely, Tadahiro Osawa Manager Keyakizaka

Lovely furnishings of wood and stone with shades of elegant brown with tip top service. Try the beef tasting course of four types of beef 30gms each, done to your liking infront of your eyes. Don’t forget your veges to go with the meat, uber fresh and seasonal vegetables are available. Delicious garlic teppenyaki dish ends the meal nicely, filling even the harshest of carb addicts!

This is exquisite dining. Pure and simple. Teppanyaki but not as you have experienced outside Japan. 11/10!!! Great wine list too but just be prepared to reach a long way down into your pocket to pay for it. Despite the price, it was great value as the level was so high. An exceptional dining experience.

Well, there's not much chance to do something wrong with a Teppan-yaki restaurant at a classy hotel inside a luxury shopping complex such as Roppongi Hills. This said, experience tells that, even with the best intentions, a lot could go wrong. I was having a lunch on a coupon, so that was the "basic" menu which I nevertheless enjoyed. Setting aside the too-loudly-chit-chattering ladies seated next to me, the meal was enjoyable. There was a gelatine--alike covered tofu sort of coup, The vegetables were delicious and the pork-steak also tasty (delicious would be an overstatement). The dessert is served at a separate table, but the basic menu dessert was disappointing, well...can't have everything? Interiors are nice and service was, as expeted, professional and promt. Maybe if I had taken a glass of wine with the meal it would have all looked different.

Arrived here by chance on a friday evening and did not expect much. However we were pleasantly surprised by a great service, wonderful craftmanship in the kitchen and very, very nice food. If you stay in this area, I would certainly recommend this restaurant . Prices are high - as any good restaurant in Tokyo - unfortunately.
