We came for a meal out for my friend’s birthday, 4 of us in total. Staff were polite and friendly and the dining room atmosphere was nice, we had a few drinks, mains and a couple of us had desserts, I had the sea bass...which was really nice, and the apple crumble which was also lovely. Looking forward to coming back.More
I just wanted to say how disgusted I was with the way I was treated tonight when we arrived for food. I was refused entry into the Pub Dining section as i was wearing tracksuit bottoms, and would only be served in the Vault. now...to say we have been coming to this pub for a long time is an understatement, I recently had a total hip replacement and explained this to the waiting staff who happened to be wearing tracksuit bottoms for work. so finding clothes that are comfy is a challenge. I have worn shorts and tracksuit bottoms plenty of times to dine in the PUB . Has the dress code suddenly changed ? I had a 3 course meal in a restaurant on Christmas eve in an actual restaurant wearing the same tracksuit you refused me .... you will never get my custom again and I will be letting everybody I know how I was treated tonight. Also my wife happens to work at the primary school down the road and will be telling all the staff how I have been treated .... this will also be going on trip advisor ,google reviews and the Lee's brewery and the rose of lancaster facebook pages.... disability discrimination. Now sat in a restaurant in the same clothes I had on eating .... Yet there are photos of a dog drinking from a pint pot on the bar on their facebook page !!!!! Can JWLee's really afford to lose customers in this current climate?? The place was empty and they turned me away ... your loss as I hope everyone I know stays away after I tell them what's happened tonight I hope JWLees kick you to the kerb. Running a once decent place to eat into the ground alienating customers who have been coming for over 20 years. I will be seeking legal advice under the disability discrimination act.More

This is a family friendly pub/ restaurant, with very good food, great beers. The staff are all very friendly and professional. The manager runs a very tight ship and thankfully keeps out the great unwashed. Don't go if you like a rowdy pub and like...swearing!More

Sunday afternoon & i was at the football ⚽ with my mate & the kids,so i booked my wife,his wife & my mother in law,in for Sunday afternoon tea. As i say i wasn't there,but here's the report,booked in for 4,30pm,table in the restaurant ares,couple...of soft drinks (j2o's?) The meals consisted of,a king prawn sizzler,chicken sizzler,served with rice & dips a meat & potato pie,chips & mushy peas..followed with two profiteroles & a tiramisu with bailey's icecream,all served in good time. The place was bus as it usually is,restaurant area for food,or tap room to watch the match,good atmosphere,staff there for your needs.. Be sure to booked, especially at the weekend,mid week you should be ok for a quick walk in. Sure we'll be back in again soon.More

Four of us in my family decided to treat ourselves to a dinner out after a very bust tiring Christmasdinner that i cooked for 6.. My best friend said, try the Rose of Lancaster. Oh boy did I regret listening. Below you will see photos...of people wearing tracksuit tops, beany hat, trainers, jeans, ripped laddererd tights on a waitress. But my son was wearing very smart tracksuit bottoms. The manager, rude and obnoxiously said he can't cone in. I said why, he said for 10yrs, the dress code has never changed. I could not believe what I was hearing. He said it should be in your email confirmation. I'm sorry but I didn't book it, so I didn't get a dress code, neither did my son ormy husband. The manager insisted we left and get changed. As I looked around trainers, ripped jeans, beanies, sports t shirts, ripped laddered wittress tights and tracksuit tops. Why was my disabled son picked on? I am going to take this further as not only were we discriminated against but also humiliated.More

I am meeting up with a few friends in between Christmas and the New Year for few beers and to watch a football match, which is being shown on Amazon Prime. I rang the pub to ask if they showed matches on Amazon Prime. When...I asked the person answering the phone if they had Amazon Prime, the response was 'I don't know', the line then went silent for a couple of seconds, leaving me thinking she was going to ask someone who knew. Nope, she didn't ask anyone just hung up. Bit rude, ....guess I will keep looking for pub that is showing the match.More

We had our wake here after my mother died, the Manager Ant, was so helpful and accommodating for our requests. He reserved a section of the restraurant for our party of 16 the buffet of Meat and Potatoe pie and mixed sandwiches was really nice...followed with Apple crumble with custard it really could not have been better the staff along with the manager were so nice cannot fault it. Would visit again and highly recommend as a great place to eat.More

15 of us came for a friend's special birthday party and the staff, food, atmosphere and all round experience was fabulous. All our food had been pre-ordered which was a good idea, The pub was very busy when we arrived but we were not left...waiting around and were attended to quickly and efficiently with lovely friendly and helpful staff.More

Ordered the chicken sizzler with noodles , my meal came instead of noodles they give me a bowl of rice , was then just told we have no noodles so we have given you rice ,meal very bland couldn't eat it , glad I don't...live near by and we was just visiting.More

We chose this for our Mum/grandma'wake, and everything about it was wonderful! Great staff, tasty meat & potato pie/cheese & onion pie. And a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Thanks to all for helping make a sad day a little better for us all xx

My daughter and I dropped in at The Rose and were greeted by Tom . He made us very welcome and gave excellent service . The food was delicious and well presented and the young lady who served us was extremely pleasant . We were...also served by a young lady who kept us topped up with wine , without having to leave the table .More

Tap room for meeting for weekly drink with friends with sport on tv or background music (quiet so we can still speak) tuesdays in loung for quiz .great staff and landlord keeps everything in order
