Plz do not visit this place. High prices without quality or quantity of food. All fish dishes are deep fried without maintaining their flavour or spice elements. Very pathetic service as well.. Really poor standard when compared to other Konkani food places around.

On the second day of our stay, three of us set out from our resort at Tarkarli to visit Sindhudurg Fort, a ‘must see’ attraction of the area. We had reached the jetty at Malvan and sailed across the channel by a motorboat to land...at Kurte Island, home to the mighty fort. After exploring the uneven terrains of the fort and its periphery for nearly two hours, we were simply ravenous! On reaching the mainland, we first went to ‘Chaitanya’ and then to ‘Atithi Bamboo’, both famous for their Malvani fare but sadly closed for any services on Mondays… we could finally discover ‘Swami Family Restaurant’ and gravitated towards its impressive façade. We were ushered in very politely by the wait staff while informing us that the entire gamut of seafood was available! As the starter, we ordered two plates of Pomfret rawa fry (smeared with poppy seeds) and two pieces of papad; five-six pieces of a large fish were served in one plate and its freshness was beyond any doubt. In the main course, we had asked for a dish of dried veg preparation with beans and coconut, followed by a portion each of crab curry and mussel curry to go with three plates of plain rice. Both the crab and mussel curries truly lived up to their names, la Malvani style! The quantities served in each plate were quite adequate for three of us. As desserts, we chose the local speciality, ‘Amrakhand’ (yoghurt flavoured with mango). Such a great culinary escapade left us all very satiated with a very reasonable total bill of Rs.1330/-. I must make a special mention about the wait staff, they were too polite, helpful and quite caring in every aspect. Swami has been a very good find for Malvani seafood.More

We wanted to visit Atithi Bamboo but since it was closed on Monday, had to visit some other place, we had tried Chaitanya the other day and didn't find it up to the mark, so decided to visit Swami. I ordered Kombadi Wade thali and...wife ordered Prawns thali, on the first bite itself we both were delighted that we indeed have landed at the right place. Good alternative to other famous and crowded places in Malvan. Photo of the Kombadi Wade thali.More

Swami is located just before the Malvan Theatre (Natyagriha) and is very close to the Pimpal Paar. It looks more like a Udipi restaurant from outside. They have only thalis on the menu, but you can order fry items separately. We had Surmai Thali, Pomfret...Thali, Prawns Thali, Veg Thali and, Prawns Fry and Bangda Fry separately. The food was good, especially all the seafood, it was freshly prepared and tasty. The only vegetarian person in our family was not very happy with the veg thali though, it was ok-ish. The service is also good - friendly and quick. The owner sits in the counter and pays attention to each and every customer. Everything is made on time, so some of the food can take time, but it's all-okay once you bite into it :-). Price-wise, they are just a little costlier than nearby and older restaurants, but not too much. So, a good value for money in the end.More

You will get only thali's at this restaurant & it is of real good quality & sufficient quantity. Different types of thali's are available. Fish thali's are priced higher & depend upon seasonal fish price. Chicken thali is awesome. Chicken is really very tasty. Certainly...a very good restaurant to visit with family.More
