Went into small cafe come village shop. Had a fruity mince pie and coffee. They had wonderful view of sea. Friendly service. I went back on Wednesday only to find it was half day. Never mind would go back again.

Really nice people who have obviously identified what people need/want. Sensibly priced and great service. Great place to stop for coffee or pick up something for a picnic. Good supply of essentials and some really nice things too. A must visit if you are in Coverack.

Very handy shop, selling a good variety of wetsuits for all ages. Friendly helpful staff and a good shop to stop at for souvenirs or presents.

We recently stayed at a lovely cottage in Coverack in Cornwall. We had brought a few basic supplies with us but just couldn't believe our luck that literally opposite the cottage was what has to be just about the most perfect cafe and shop you could hope to find! From the second we walked in, you could tell how much... More

We picked up some great local produce from the shop. The locally produced sausages, bacon and eggs went down really well on our breakfast BBQ. The coffee and hot chocolate were good, a nice location to have a coffee and pick up some groceries.

The wave and the fat maker's have been replaced by a new village shop, as we found on a visit last Tuesday (21/4/2015) Our trip took us to the amazing, mind blowing and free Terence Coventry sculpture meadows. This was a trek out of Coverack and yes we got lost, but then spied a sculpture through the trees. This led... More

What do people want from a cafe in a seaside village? A nice cup of tea, a sandwich, a square meal. And that is exactly what you will get in the Fat Mackerel. I came here in May 2013 when it was the Wave and it was great. When I read more recent reviews on TA I was a bit... More

This was our first visit to this establishment under new ownership as "The Fat Mackeral" and all I can say is it was completely disappointing. We used to visit when it was previously known as "The Wave" for the famous crab sandwiches which in our opinion were the best in the area, if not the county. Sadly, this is certainly... More

We visited this restaurant at lunchtime because it had been recommended for delicious crab sandwiches. We didn't realise until we arrived that it had changed hands and name. We decided to try the restaurant anyway, so reserved a table and at the same time time ordered three rounds of crab sandwiches. We returned at the time we had reserved the... More

We have eaten in the Wave previously and now the newly named Fat Mackeral; it now has a wider menu but the service is a little slower. We had a deliciious light lunch, and it is a beautiful setting with a view through a wide picture window across Coverack Bay. It was very quiet and therefore a little lacking in... More
