Have been before and enjoyed meal but my sunday lunch was very disappointing. Beef was chewy and "selection of spring vegetables" consisted of one chunk of carrot and 8 tiny string beans. Potatoes were plentiful, but a variety would be nice. Whilst lemon tart dessert was delicious, i had to ask for fresh cream as advertised, as it came with... More

We booked the Hillside for a large group of friends after karting at nearby Lyons , everything was well organised for us arriving , the staff were extremely polite and friendly, the food was superb and the atmosphere was great. Will definitely be back and would recommend it to anyone

My husband took me to Hillside for Valentines. It was the usual busy Saturday night! The service was excellent, and the food was out of this world! My husband got the venison, and I had the Ribeye burger, it was simply unbelievable! Compliments to the chef and service staff (which were all fellas) on sat 11th Feb 17. Thank you

My wife and I have visited the Hillside twice in the last couple of months with our two daughters. We enjoyed the food and the decor.Staff are friendly and service quite good.On both occasions we asked for slight variations to the Main courses and that was no problem. Will definitely pay a return visit!.

Went for evening meal on a Friday night around 6pm. The food was OK. There were some children in our party and the children's portions were a good size. The adults meals were fine. But the service was not good at all. I read in another review that the service was "haphazard". This is perhaps the best term to use.... More

Was recommended this establishment by the owner of Duhill Cottage B&B (review to follow) Excellent menu which is not too extensive however there is a good variety on offer. Very rustic on the inside which gives a lovely atmosphere even if dining alone. Staff were all very pleasant and professional. I would advise to book a table in advance as... More

There are a number of restaurants in Hillsborough and all tend to be busy over the Christmas period. As we were planning a Friday night I thought it prudent to book in advance using the online booking system on their website. Unfortunately the Hillside does not monitor its online bookings so booking online does not work. By the preceding Monday... More

Came here during lunch and was packed with Christmas party's, the staff still managed to accommodate us with a smile, food was everything you wanted it to be, service was slow although can be forgiven due to crowd on the day

Description
The Hillside is a charming, rustic pub situated in the historic Georgian village of Hillsborough, County Down, only 15 minutes drive from Belfast city centre. The Hillside first opened its doors to patrons in 1752 and has been enjoying a busy trade ever since thanks to our excellent food and drinks selection and our friendly, welcoming service. We are renowned for our roaring open fires in the winter and our pretty cobble stoned beer garden in the summer.

Food served daily. Large parties catered for. Private room available.
