Excellent food, serving, service and atmosphere

We had garlic bread (Pão Alho) and Lapas as starters which was a wonderful start. For the main course I looked forward to the octopus, but this was sold out. My second choise was the grilled tuna, which was definitely no disappointment, nicely grilled and served with a well tasting spicy pineapple chutney, potatoes, sweet potatoe and vegetables. My wife took some sushi hot rolls, with lovely taste as well as nicely served. The late lunch was topped with a wonderful smooth crème brûlée with green tea and menthe, cooked to perfection. On top of all good food also excellent and very friendly service together with nice atmosphere. Highly recommended. Best food so far on São Miguel.

Best restaurant in Villa Franca

It is definitely one of the best restaurants in Villa Franca, we showed up without a reservation and were told to come back after 30 minutes. Once we returned they made us sit on the second floor (the rooftop) unfortunately without a view of the ocean. Tip: book in advance and ask for an ocean view table (with Ilheu view). Super friendly staff, not bad food (the only negative note was that our cod was slightly stringy) and a refined atmosphere. I advise!

Best meal and service of our trip!

My friends and I were looking for a place to grab lunch after kayaking in Villa Franca and happened to stumble upon this little gem of a restaurant. It turned out to be the best meal of our entire trip. We were greeted by Nilton, the owner, who told us he had rooftop seating where we could enjoy our meal. The views were just incredible. We began viewing and discussing the menu when suddenly Nilton appeared with appetizers that he overheard us wanting to order. I have NEVER experienced this type of service before. Everything we ordered on the menu was delicious! Definitely make a point of visiting this restaurant and Nilton during your stay on Sao Miguel.

Not worth your time or money

Terrible experience overall. Got an eyeroll from the head chef when we first went in and addressed them in English (quite rude, sir, considering we’re paying customers). We had a reservation for 8:30pm and didn’t get our drinks until 9:30. Tried to order sushi, only for the poor, stretched waitress to tell us the chef wasn’t willing to make it for us because it was too late (never mind that we’d been sitting idly for almost an hour). Ordered octopus and seafood pasta instead. The octopus was chewy and flavourless, and the seafood pasta was just not good. The sauce was watery and looked curdled, it had a few sad-looking mussels, extremely overcooked prawns and salmon. Since when is salmon a type of seafood? Anyway, overcooked as well. The only redeeming points were the gyozas we ordered as a starter and the dessert, but honestly they don’t make up for the quality of the mains. Paid 72 € for one of the worst meals we’ve had on this trip. Kudos to the two poor waiters who had to attend countless tables and were nothing but nice.

Weak Sushi

The sushi was some of the most disappointing we have ever had. Was that lemon curd on top of the small salmon roll? Agreement was unanimous that this was the worst meal of the trip. We had high expectations for this restaurant based on all of the positive reviews. Maybe we just ordered the wrong thing. I don’t know. Whatever you do, do not order the 24 piece sampler on the sushi menu. Also, we tried the limpets which are a local favorite. We found these to be quite tough, but have no other comparison as this was the only place we tried them. The IPA from northern Portugal on tap was good, and the server we had was quite friendly and attentive.

Elegant decor for this restaurant on 2 floors. Professional and confident welcome and service. Very nice wine list. A delicious white Lava Terass from the volcanic lands of the island of Pico (25€). Good starter of grilled octopus in salad (16€). On the other hand, the mixed grilled fish for two (30&) is particularly disappointing: overcooked, dry fish and charred in places. Bland and ordinary assortments. In short, the value for money is very average. Allow €60/70 per person for a full meal.

The worst choice of our days in Sao Miguel despite being the most expensive. The menu price information on Google is not updated (prices have increased by about 30%). The place is good but the food leaves a lot to be desired and is not in line with what it aims to offer. The product is either not of the quality they charge for or it is not well cooked. My first disappointment despite the good ratings on Trip Advisor. I wouldn't repeat.

I had been to the restaurant last week and came back. The fish soup went from 5 to 6 euros (and there was less fish). The fish (bicuda) also decreased. The food is indeed good and the service is professional, but increasing prices and reducing quantity will not be a good practice. A soft drink 6 euros! That's why I didn't see people from the island in the restaurant. As long as there are tourists filling the house, there will be no problems.

Excellent, but expensive

Very good food, good service, however it was the first time I drank gin and they charged me separately for tonic water without warning that it would be like that. Furthermore, the restaurant's page mentions a discount for residents and none of that was even mentioned. However, it is important to emphasize that the food is very good, and the space is equally good. Too bad the prices are a little high.

Discovered completely by chance this restaurant was one of our best culinary experiences on the island. Quality products, mastered cooking, the tuna was divine. The tea and mint crème brûlée was also very good. If possible, ask for a table on the terrace, which is located on the top floor, so you can enjoy the view of the port and the island. In terms of service, nothing to complain about either, the waiter was funny and took great care of us. Our only regret was not being able to go back.

We went two days in a row for lunch. We’re impressed with the sushi, the way it was prepared me presented. It was a shame to deconstruct it for lunch. Other patrons were taking pictures of their plates when their lunch was served. Whether fish or beef, it was exceptional…

The restaurant is very comfortable, overlooking the port and with a covered terrace overlooking the beautiful islet. The very kind staff will show you the dishes of the day. There Kitchen is on the ground floor and, assisting the Mastery of the chef, we chose to try sushi and sashimi. Excellent choice. The octopus is also good and an excellent choice of wines. For us it was the best restaurant in Sao Miguel.

Best restaurant in Vila Franca do Campo

By far the best meal we had in Vila Franca Do Campo. The sushi was amazing, the tuna tataki delicious, steak and chips well prepared. Our server was lovely and so accommodating. The ambiance on the rooftop patio is very nice and the ice cream with house made hot chocolate sauce yummy. Will be back.

Great scenery, service, and food!

Our family of 8 made a reservation here and we were brought to the roof where we had a view of the Island of Vila Franco do Campo. We were instantly feeling like we made a good decision. Our server, Michael, had a wonderful attitude and helped select wine for our table. Our group had some picky eaters and everyone was happy with this meal. It may have been the only meal of 10 days that I can say that. Our group had a mix of fish, pasta, and steak and everything was fantastic. This was our list dinner on the island and had we stayed longer I know we would have been back. I would absolutely go here again!

Great restaurant in Villa Do Campo

The food was excellent, extremely fresh fish and the service was on point. My husband had the 14 piece sushi platter and I had the rock fish. My fish was cooked to perfection with a nice crust on the outside and moist flaky inside.
