Nice little tearoom. Foods ok but a little expensive for what you get. Friendly staff wait at ur table. It may be a little tricky getting in the tearoom for people with walking difficulties because of a ramp placed at the door for wheelchairs (...presumably). But a pleasant place to catch up with friends.More
Glad you enjoyed our tearooms, our pricing is very reasonable for the homemade quality ingredients. We are always competitive with other local businesses and have been established for 10 years , but I’m afraid if you want the best as the old saying says you...More
What a fantastic find. The food was all home cooked and was delicious. Some tea rooms can be a bit pretentious but that was not the case here. It was so homely and the staff were lovely. Loved all the little knickknacks around the place...and the attention to detail. Also, it’s really good that you can book as you can’t with most tea rooms. We attended for the anniversary of our mums funeral and I think it made it extra special because she would have absolutely loved it there. Definitely recommend!!More
We have an event in the office and have pre-order a finger buffet menu and the food were excellent and tasty. Everyone in the office thoroughly enjoyed the buffet, so highly recommended for any corporate function event.
We went to Marjories in Portchester. A mushroom omelette was excellent. A scone was greyish, and looked/ tasted like / consistency of - perhaps a suet dumpling. I had one mouthful and left the rest. A shame, because ambience and staff ok. We then walked...down to the Castle, and had a really excellent scone at the church tea room there.More
Today 21 Sept my wife and I ate lunch at Marjorie’s, the service was very friendly, the food was very good and value for money. The original 50’s and 60’ s music in the back ground was fantastic. We will visit their cafe in Portchester...as it is close to home. RECOMMENDED.More
Today we had a lovely relaxing lunch for 4 generations of our family. The food was delicious with good quality ingredients which we all enjoyed. Most importantly the service was great with lovely cheerful staff, we loved it.
We stopped off today for some lunch. My husband had one of the daily specials - liver and mash, which he really enjoyed and even finished off the gravy with a spoon. I had a jacket potato with prawns and this also was very tasty....Everything had been put in place to be covid friendly and we felt very sorry for them when the news came through that Portsmouth had been put into Tier3.More
Superb cafe / bistro in the heart of Cosham. Lovely place to meet friends for coffee and a chat also great tasty snacks. Wonderful and helpful, friendly staff, where nothing is too much trouble. Pleasant quiet atmosphere. Highly recommended
I have always had a good experience at Marjorie's until my most recent visit, where I was left in utter disbelieve by the treatment I received: I could smell that there was an issue with the cheese on my jacket potato when it was set...down in front of me, however, I took a mouthful, and sure enough, it was rancid. I sent it back, only to have, who I assume was the manager or chef, storm out from the kitchen area, demanding what the problem was. I explained the issue, only to be rudely told I was wrong and that it was my problem "because drinking mocha before eating cheese would make it taste funny". She then snapped at me whether I wanted something else, to which I told her I needed a couple of minutes to decide. I decided against having a replacement meal because of the way I'd been spoken to. Upon stating this, the same lady launched into a second round of abuse where I was again accused of being wrong because "they have consistently good ratings and satisfaction from their customers". The experience left me shaken and upset, so my friend and I settled up and left soon after. I'm aware that Marjorie's has good ratings, and I agree that my past experiences (where I haven't had any issues) have been excellent. However, the treatment I received this time round was completely unacceptable: staff need to learn the art of customer service, manners and courtesy instead of being rude, defensive and abusive when a customer has an issue with their food. Even though I'm fully expecting a defensive, untruthful comeback from Marjorie's in response to this review (as evidenced from other low rating reviews on here), I would rather forewarn potential customers, to avoid anyone else experiencing what I did.More
To anybody who reads this comment, what would you think if you mixed mocha made with soya milk, baked beans in tomato sauce with extra mature cheddar cheese jacket potato and salad cream? Of course it’s going to taste sour as the combination with the...More
Freshly cooked homemade breakfast and pot of tea. Have been several times and always consistently good. Not for the young hip crowd though.
I came here for my 25th birthday. We reserved a table for afternoon tea. The place was pretty and elegant inside. As we arrived the table was already set out for us, looked professional and tasted lovely. Will definitely be coming back.
I organised a baby shower for a friend to be held at Marjorie’s Tea Rooms and we had a lovely afternoon. Communication with Peter before the event took place was easy and Peter was always helpful whenever I had any queries. Everyone was delighted with...the food and drink provided and with the crockery and how the tables were presented. The staff were tentative on the day and we had a lovely afternoon. Thank you!More
When in Cosham last week on business, we decided to find a cafe for coffee and maybe a cake. As we walked down Wayte Street, we noticed Marjories Tearooms and decided we would return after we had done our shopping. We were delighted by the...warm welcome we received and the ambience of the place. When we looked at the menu, we decided to have a full English breakfast. Had it been a little later, we would have had one of the specials on the board for lunch but it was only 11.15. I had the standard English Breakfast and my OH went for the vegetarian option. Whilst we waited for it to arrive, our coffee was served and we sat taking in the atmosphere and listening to the music being played, which was an Everly Brothers CD, who just happen to be my favourite. I started chatting to the owner, telling him that I had only recently been to a tribute to the Everlys at the Kings Theatre Portsmouth. When our breakfasts arrived, we were most impressed by the presentation, and how well cooked everything was- served on a hot plate too, which is always a bonus for me. We will definitely return to Marjories to try their lunch time menu as I am confident we will enjoy the experience.More
