While it still holds some it's old ambience Waiau Country Estate winery could defiantly do with some TLC. the coffee was good and the food came out hot fast and tasty. Service with a smile and there was a constant flow of people in and out.

We went recently for dinner with our teenage son. All our meals were fantastic. We had the chicken pasta, the steak and the lamb shanks. They were all some of the best meals we have had in a long while and we eat out a lot. We were very impressed with the sole chef who was managing the whole kitchen... More

Picked up a GrabOne voucher for a Roast Dinner for 2 including deserts. We were the only ones there at 5pm but it soon starting filling up by 6pm. The staff were very friendly and the food was great. I had lamb and it was cooked perfectly. For good food and service I would recommend this restaurant.

We were up from Timaru and thought we'd pop in for old time sake. A quick summary: -uncleaned table -miss matched cutlery -no one checked on how our food was -no one checked on our drinks -not sure who the prolific smoker was who kept coming from inside to smoke under the tree, but really not appropriate while there is... We booked our wedding as the new owner Lee was just taking over Waiau Estate. We gave a deposit on the spot once meeting her and seeing the venue and caught up a week before the wedding to finalise all the details. We met with Lee , Charlene and the chef and they made the whole wedding process very easy... More

I cannot even begin to describe how amazing our day was because of the effort and dedication put in by the Team at Waiau. My partner and I are so thankful of everything Lee, Ray and the team did for us. We had our ceremony on the Bridal lawn and the reception outside under the fairy lights, by the fire.... More

Booked this venue for my grandmothers 90th - we had a large party with many children and babies. We won't be patronizing this venue again. The wait for meals was atrocious - 1 hour wait for the buffet meal to start and then a 1 & 1/2 hour wait for dessert. The 'dairy-free' salad had Parmesan in it which we... More

This was our 2nd visit within a month, both being on Saturday nights. The first dining experience was only acceptable at best. On this 2nd occasion everything was poor. The service was slow and without the usual service one expects from waiting staff eg: providing correct cutlery, checking to see if drinks were required. The wait for the meals was... More

We are horrified that you had this dismal experience and will endeavour to NEVER LET THIS HAPPEN AGAIN! There is no excuse but however an explanation is deserved. The waitress on the night was on her first night serving without senior support which in hindsight was a mistake. Also our senior chef was not present and the sous chef took... More

My husband and I have just had lunch at Waiau, in a beautiful setting, especially on a summers day. Food was excellent with plates to share Tapa style as we love trying a variety of different foods. Would recommend the Lamb meatballs in a very Italian tomato based sauce and the Pork Ribs. Good fresh food simply prepared and served... More
