Lunch at the Red Cow today, a lovely old pub, wood fire, good food and large portions. Excellent chips, and the cheesecake is awesome

It was icy when we visited and probably as a consequence of that it meant the pub was only about half full. It's great to have a real log fire (and not a bland log burning stove!), and the atmosphere is authentic. Portion sizes are generous and prices reasonable. I'd recommend it.

Great pub/ restaurant. Very welcoming when myself, my brother and my little schnauzer wondered in from our wintery walk. The Roaring log fire soon warmed us up and they also provided a towel so we could dry our dog. Food was delicious and service was very prompt. 👍🏻

The food was as it states homecooked.. Smell coming from the kitchen was so yummy you wanted to try the whole menu, Havnt had chips like this since i was a child when my nan used to cook.. Staff very friendly, Literally it was like home from home.. Would say best meal in Merthyr Tydfil.

Visited with family on the way to the Brecon Mountain Railway. We had a delicious pub lunch and a warm welcome. Well worth a visit. Well kept draught beers and good food.

We booked a table for 5 adults for 1.30pm. We arrived and found our table squashed next to the ladies toilet. There were no menus on the table neither was there any sign from the staff to welcome us or offer any advice as to how to place our order. I asked at the bar for menus and was given... More

This is what I call a good traditional village pub. A lovely welcome and a cosy atmosphere on a cold and rainy November day. We had a well cooked, tasty and very reasonably price lunchtime meal. We were really well looked after and the good reviews for this pub are well deserved.

Had sunday lunch there twice now. We took friends last time and they loved it too. The turkey was moist and tender, veggies perfect, especially the roasties!!!

Decided to try the Sunday roast as I've heard it's good. That's an understatement! The beef was the best roast I've had anywhere. It was so tender, the Yorkshire puddings were amazing and rich meaty gravy to top it all off. I desperately wanted dessert as the cheesecake was homemade and recommended but I couldn't possibly manage it. I can't... More
