I'm glad I asked for an extra course of scallops as the portions are small. The scallops were absolutely amazing and were the highlight of my lunch Hot smoked salmon tasty but not out of the ordinary. The cod Loin was beautifully cooked as was...the smoked haddock my partner chose. Very nice Alberino to pair with the fish too. Enjoyed our visitMore

An entertaining and delicious food experience. Will definitely visit again. We had four dishes but should have had six just for the experience. Nice wine too. Very good staff, who knew what was being served and explained in detail each course.

We'd visited the restaurant a couple of times in the past (last in 2018). We'd been wanting to come back for a while. Of course you know what didn't help. But then there was the risk. Would it be as good? I took the plunge...and booked a table for my wife's birthday We were not disappointed We both opted fir the six course lunch tasting menu. Every dish was delicious. The menu changes regularly but for me the smoked salmon, and pickled herring dishes were favourites fish wise. The dessert was a tonka bean panacotta with cherry sorbet. Wow. However nothing can beat "the pre dessert" of liquorice ice cream. So pleased that it still features We had a table for two near the kitchen which is great to chat to chef patron David Wykes and his small team.More

We cycled from Lymington and stumbled across Verveine by chance. We asked for a table and were very lucky that they had a table for 2 available. The restaurant is at the back of the fishmongers and has an intimate atmosphere. My husband and I...ordered from the 3 course lunch menu but were surprised with extra treats to eat. The chef is very talented and creative with the food, not only did it taste amazing but the staff serve the food with great attention to detail and drama. We both agreed it was the best restaurant we had been to for a long time and would definitely return when we are next visiting the New Forest.More

For once, words fail me. We had high expectations, but we’re quite simply left speechless. We have been lucky enough to have dined out at the some of the best restaurants in the world. From the La Manoir aux Quat’Saisons in Oxford to Le Louis...XV Monaco. Both were as you would expect…fabulous, however. Verveine was above all expectations. The six course evening tasting menu was not only inventive, adventurous but quite simply delicious. Each dish arrived and instantly put a smile on our faces. The desert was, without question the finest desert we have ver had the pleasure of tasting. I cannot congratulate David, chef/ Patron for all his hard work over the past twelve years. He has set a target for all other chefs to aim for, and sadly, I believe most will fail. I cannot wait for my next visit, each course is like a birthday present being delivered to you. So book a table and look forward to an exception lunch or dinner that you will remember for a lifetime. Pro’s Everything…yes everything Cons Nothing Would I go again? ABSOLUTELY!More

Three of my oldest friends came down from Berkshire to Milford for lunch. As recent visits had not been possible due to covid I wanted to take them to have something special. I chose the fish restaurant Verveines and am so glad I did. We...chose the six course tasting menu and at only £39 it was excellent value. Our waitress Sally was friendly and so knowledgable , explaining each of the courses and answering any questions we had.My friends were so impressed with the perfectly cooked fish courses that they are bringing there wives down to try the restaurant. The ambiance, the quality of the fish and the skills of the chef/ owner Were all first rate. Vervaine is top of it's game.More

It was our first visit to Verveine, we booked for a weekday lunch to celebrate our anniversary. The staff were extremely welcoming and explained each dish as it came to the table. We had the tasting menu which was perfect, with unusual combinations that really...worked. The relaxed atmosphere made for a very enjoyable lunch. We can’t wait to return to this little gem for our birthday celebrations next year if not before! Apologies to Chef if I haven’t quite remembered all of the fine detail of each course - too busy enjoying them😂More

A tasting menu often flags up an opportunity for a restaurant to crank up the pomposity or for potential disappointment when presented with tiny portions of barely average quality. Neither applied at Verveine; staff were welcoming and helpful, the food choice, presentation and preparation truly...excellent. Highly recommended.More

Our Firstvisit to the wonderful Verveine in nearly three years last week and it remains a true gem of a restaurant that as someone else said above, surely deserves a Michelin star or two (or three!). The six course tasting menu is full of innovation...and spectacular an d this is all complemented by first class service from all the staff. Hopefully we will be back again very soon to try the full eight or nine course menu.More

This was our first visit since the beginning of the pandemic, so we weren’t sure how much might have changed. There seemed to be more space between tables, which is not easy for a fairly small restaurant. The service was as good and attentive as...ever, and the quality of food still outstanding. The only slight negative from my point of view was that I didn’t really care for the Hoi Sin sauce with the halibut main course. I didn’t feel they belonged on the same plate, but my wife enjoyed hers. Highly recommended for fish and seafood lovers.More
