We rediscovered the Lamb after some time and have visited several times either side of Christmas. We always eat in the bar because it is dog friendly and the food is superb and really good value for money. They have an inventive Chef who always pulls out a gastronomic surprise. They don't try to top up the bill with extras... More

We sat in the small conservatory at the back which is well-lit during the day for a family week-day lunch. Food was of a good standard, service friendly and competent and prices fair. There is a handy restaurant car-park at the back.

We loved the Sunday lunch, possibly one of the best we've eaten in a long time. The food was plentiful, flavoursome and cooked to perfection. This is certainly somewhere we recommend. The only downside was the restaurant noise level. Probably not helped by being sandwiched between two large and very vocal parties. It seems the seating policy is to fill... More

I wish to apologise to the reviewer for having 'rather noisy neighbours' close to him when he dined with us recently. We were unaware until well into service that all was not well. One of our senior waitresses called it to my attention and we offered a solution. However by this time things had quietened down a bit. I can... More

Nice bar and restaurant - came him for an informal quick working lunch. Sat in bar area and service good. Lunch was nice ( if a little small) but good options for sides etc. Lovely pint of Sussex Gold

We spent 3 nights at the Lamb last weekend and thought that it was one of the best places that we have stayed. It has a lovely atmosphere and the staff were excellent very hospitable and always available for any questions that one might have. Our twin room was large with bathroom en-suite. It was a bit chilly when we arrived... More

My wife and I visited here today for the first time. Parking and access is easy. We were greeted by a friendly and smartly dressed young lady. We got drinks, chose seats and headed off with lunch menus. Unfortunately, and unknown to me, I sat right beside a dogs water bowl that was between us and the next table. We... More

I wrote to the reviewer and have also had a telephone conversation with him prior to writing this response. I think I understand better now his criticisms of our establishment which I did not at the time of reading the review. The reviewer very much likes the establishment 'just up the hill' as he puts it. Its a hotel and... More

Lovely meal but service wasn't at it's best. I had the halibut which was amazing but my husband had the sirloin which was under cooked. We asked for it cooked longer which on return was a new steak.

Popped in bar for lunch. Pleasant environment. Staff friendly. Menu looked fine but surprised at central Brighton prices in village. Ordered fish and chips with mushy peas at £12.50. Looked fair portion at a glance but batter ballooning disguised modest fish, with handful of chunky chips probably half a potato worth. Mushy peas in thimble. Tasty enough but not filling... More

Sometimes one wonders if there is any point in responding to reviews when they paint a picture so wide of the mark as this one does, but for the record here is a response. 1. Surprised at central Brighton prices in village. Response:- Strangely enough the Haddock that swim around Brighton also drift down to Littlehampton and can be caught... More

My brother and his wife visited us and stayed here. They said the room was very noisy when kitchen staff were cleaning down after closing time but otherwise the room was fine. We all had dinner on one night in the restaurant. Absolutely top notch! The menu wasn't huge and overwhelming like some place but was amply sufficient to give... More

Everything was right at the lamb. They just got everything right. Perhaps the drinkers outside might be a little intimidating to some , but they are nice local people and the restaurant is very welcoming and accommodating.
