My husband and I used to visit the tearoom regularly, but haven't for the past few years. It was great to see the changes that the new owner has made to both the venue and the menu. The coffee and cake were very nice and the staff were very friendly and efficient! I wish the new owner and staff every... More

A place where location, service & quality meals can be enjoyed. A yummy lunch served by friendly staff in an indoor or outdoor setting that enhances the experience. Bravo!

Friendly service. Food was delicious. Generous helpings. No children's menu. Kids enjoyed wandering around this delightful rural old-style country setting. So full we shared 2 apple pies between 7.

Hi there, Thanks for taking the time to review - we're pleased you had a good visit! We do have a kids menu for younger children. However, we've made sure the main menu has enough depth to cater for older children and young adults - with the Ham and Cheese Sandwich, Savoury and Sweet Scones, Pies and so on. We're... More

A very pleasant place to have lunch or just a coffee overlooking a beautiful rural landscape. The surrounding escarpment is also a feast for your eyes whilst sitting out under the shady trees. The road down from Blackheath is such a beautiful drive going through rainforest down to the farmland of the valley.

Having spotted the lunch crowds at Blackheath on a holiday weekend, we remembered this cafe from a previous visit while doing the six foot track. It's just 15-20 mins down into the Megalong Valley past gorgeous rainforest, and well worth the drive. We discovered the cafe had changed hands in last 12 months, and was notably improved. Lots of variety... More

Hi there Thanks for your positive feedback and we're glad to hear you approved of the changes we have made. As you can see from a few other reviews over this period not every long term visitor of the tearooms is as excited but unfortunately that is an inevitable occurrence with any change. Our aim is to continue to continue... More

Having read the recent review, I have to agree that things are not quite the same at the Megalong tearooms! I have had apple pie there for 20 years, and it's always consistent. Not so this time when the pastry was significantly undercooked with globs of uncooked pastry in the middle - one of our group on the day was... More

Hi there, I think in the previous comment I did make it clear that we would be discussing the Apple pie which indeed we have done. Obviously people have the right to believe that the Apple pie is different but in reality it is not so not much else I can really say. We have been asking every table over... More

Having been born and bred in the area, we have been coming to the tearooms since the late 1950's! I believe that 3 generations of the one family were the previous owners. We visit regularly for the apple pie which has been invariably brilliant for the last 60 years. When the tearooms changed hands this year for the first time... More

Hi there Thanks for the feedback. Rest assured the Apple pie recipe remains exactly the same and made in fact by the same cooks. The pastry bottom is in fact cooked blind so it's always cooked but what does change throughout the year are the apples. As I'm sure you are aware most "fresh" Apple's at this time of year... More

Beautiful part of the upper mountains, however do take food from one of the wonderful eateries in Blackheath before hand or eat there first and do the scenic drive afterwards. Do not bother eating at this terrible establishment. Since it has changed hands it has gone down hill so far it has almost slid into one of the nearest valleys... More

Hi Sharlene Thanks for that. Just as nice as we were expecting! Luckily the other 250 people who came down that day had a lovely time. I won't go into the details here as I'm pretty sure prospective customers can read between the lines with this one. It's a pity we had to get a one star review obviously but... More

The Tearooms has new owners, a new and extensive menu, new liquor licence and old-fashioned country hospitality. Our group of five adults and two small children enjoyed lunch outdoors undercover. Staff are smart, attentive, very friendly and helpful with menu and drinks choices. Ploughman's lunch, for example, was offered for one or shared between two or three guests. Generous platter... Our private tour guide took us to the Tearooms in the midst of a Blue Mountains tour, and we couldn't have been more pleased. Great homemade soups, meat pies, deserts and more. A wonderful hidden gem!!!
