Whole building has been put up for lease. No similar places locally except for Chocolateria San Churro in Brunswick St which has hot chocolate and chocolate ice cream.

THE best chocolates in MEL! I enjoyed every bite and will definately return again. The service was beautiful. Nick was so nice that he just left me with a smile the whole afternoon!

Chanced upon this rather upper-class looking outfit in the rather laid-back hippie feel of Brunswick St. I'm a non-recovering chocoholic so this review is outwardly biased because of my pure addicition to the stuff. Came in and was greeted by the very cheerful staff. 3 people offered help in the first minute. I couldn't help but sit down. Ordered a... More

This place looks very enticing, but overall, I wouldn't bother. The hot chocolate I had was basically just milk and the desert was disappointing. Given the very high prices, it was quite annoying. The take home chocolate is fairly nice, so stick to that - but personally, there is better elsewhere nearby so I wouldn't bother.

Place is very welcoming and casual. It is offering wide variety of hand made chocolates with distinct flavours, awesome looking desserts and french macarons you cannot say no. We sat outside during our visit as it was a sunny day and the experience was superb. Using one of those vouchers, we opted for degustation courses starting with a glass of... More

We ordered a Chef Recommended Hot chocolate and a Chilli Hot chocolate along with 6 macarons and a couple of individual chocolate items. In hindsight, that was probably a bit too much to take in one session. The macarons were devine, especially the Tim Tam and the Black & White ones. They almost melt away in your hands and taste... Oh wow...with having completed our savoury experience elsewhere we were keen to top it off with a delish dessert...and that's what we found at Shocolate! We were welcomed so warmly by all the staff at this very cute cosy shop. It's located just off Brunswick St,we visited late-ish on a Sat night and had no trouble getting a spot for... More

We recently visited Shocolate for afternoon tea and give our love of chocolate a workout. We chose degustation plates of Belgian chocolates, which were selected for us from the extensive range they have on display. To wash it all down, Carole enjoyed a cappuccino and I enjoyed one of the hot chocolates - dark, of course. The result was a... More

Staying in Fitzroy

Neighbourhood Profile
Fitzroy is an unusual blend of working class roots, hip gentrification, and a robust bohemian work ethic. Along Brunswick Street and its side streets, you'll find little independent shops where local clothes and furniture designers display their wares. There are specialist bookshops, funky record bars, and quality vintage clothing shops where browsing is the next best thing to buying. Gertrude Street is famous for its cuisine and art galleries, but if you want to buy an old-fashioned snooker table, there is a shop for that too. Small pubs still exist, tucked away on the corners of suburban side streets that serve up traditional Sunday roasts. Live music abounds, and the street performers play so hard you worry to tip them would ruin their concentration. Venture to the Spanish quarter on Johnston Street and you may even find street dancing. It is all happening amidst off-beat street murals and the shuffle of a very funky neighbourhood that embraces both old and new.
