Hard to find but worth the search. This is a country pre fix lunch e25. Great deal fir several home made courses. All cooked in a wood fired oven. The wine keeps coming. Delicious. The LaBambo is a heated coffee drink guaranteed to warm your...inners.More
Whe we are over in italy for the summer we visit at least once a week. The set menu on a weekend is fantastic and good value for money. The animal walk through the woods is good for the kids, the La Bomba music /...Caffè correcto routine still puts a smile on our faces after 5 years, and a stroll along the river after lunch is always a welcome bonus. Make sure you book in advance though at weekekends.More
What was on the menu wasn't in fact what was available, but that didn't matter since what was available was really good, starting with a delicious tomato and paste bruschetta, I then had best lasagne ever, described as pasta al forno, with excellent house red...wine, all followed with sitting by a river and lake just over the road. We've come here before, always good.More
We are staying near Barga and were recommended this place, and told to ignore its placement on TA. Reviews are good but not numerically high. So we went. It's a quiet rural place about 10 minutes off the main road. Open areas all round the...restaurant lead you from the car park to the bar. It's a lovely setting. The menu is based in the chef and maitre d' s heads rather than on paper, and we think is altered according to their preference/whim! We started with wonderful bruschetta. Primo was home made grilled polenta with cheese or mushrooms, or fantastic ravioli. Had the lot shared round the table. The mains were a selection of grilled meats and veg. Washed down with house red- not anything amazing but went well with the strong grilled food flavours. Friendly staff and beautifully cooked freshly made food in a nice setting, all at about €25 a head. What's not to love?More
This is an amazing find in old Tuscany. Hidden in the country in a lovely setting enter the gardens and the smell of the wood burning ovens welcome you into the restaurant. The food seemed to be an all inclusive with wines, and too many...courses to mention at 25Euros each person. Not to be missed is the La Bomba....a coffee drink, when delivered to your table the owner plays music. Everyone gets up to dance!More
This is a great little restaurant & seems to be loved by the locals too, which is always a good sign. We've been a few times now sometimes just one or two people and sometimes a big group of 10 or so. In a big...group you just order their large plates for groups which include Lamb, beef, rabbit, turkey and Italian sausages. All served with fires. Can't go wrong and wash it all down with some nice Italian wine as they have a good selection too. Love the place and you can walk around the area after. All in all really nice place, nice owners and staff and the food is tasty.More
This very casual restaurant reminds me of a hunter's lodge in the country. Brown paper table coverings, a wood fired oven and a family dedicated to feeding their guests sets the stage for a lovely afternoon. We never saw a menu but were asked if...we would like bruscetta. Of course and out came a platter of the best bread, toasted and flavoured with olive oil and garlic with the tastiest tomatoes heaped on top. We were in gourmet heaven. I am sure the bread had been baked in the wood fired oven; our waitress was the bread maker and when we asked if we could buy a loaf, she was delighted. We took home a loaf of this fabulous bread (twice the size of a standard loaf) and were charged a mere 2 Euros. The next course was a rustic vegetable soup, I am sure was cooked in the wood oven. We were no longer hungry, but were curious about the meat and vegetable course and order a serving for one, split 3 ways. it was a lot of food and we ended up taking the leftovers home and it made another meal. The vegetables were grilled in the wood oven as was the variety of meat (chicken, rabbit, beef). While this would never be considered fine dining, it was some of the best food we have tasted. Everything was fresh, perfectly seasoned and presented family style. We declined the dessert, but I am sure it was equally as good.More
