We have attended on a few occasions, for special occasions like anniversaries and we have always had a lovely meal with great staff interaction. They give good recommendations and seem very knowledgeable. The food is pricey but it is worth it.

Went for Sunday lunch. Beautifully cooked and the deserts were as good! The restaurant looked brilliant - the Christmas decorations were fab. Tom, our waiter, was so friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back!

The restaurant is nice. The waiters and waitresses are polite but unforunately on our last visit two of them were arguing in public at the bar as we left which didn't give a good impression of the restaurant. The food is good with a good selection - the wings were especially good and very filling to share for 2/3 people.

This light airy charming pub didn't disappoint. We were served by one of the managers. Charming, efficient and courteous. He offered my elderly mother ( 92) a child's portion as he said it was what his mother would order. It was plenty for her. My friend and I had steak. I chose a ribeye which I have to say was... We booked a table for my parents wedding anniversary as well as their birthday's and couldn't have picked a better place to celebrate. Before we even entered the restaurant we were met with excellent service. The car parking attendant was incredibly friendly and more than just an attendant! I even nipped back out to the car to collect a surprise... More

After my wife had an upsetting morning we both decided to go for a late lunch. We were enroute to a nearby village when we passed The Black Horse. Having heard good reviews we both thought "why not". Upon entering o thought I might be inappropriately dressed in my clean work trousers, trainers and rugby top. (not how I would... More

Firstly, I would like to state that comments and issues were highlighted at the time and also fully explained on the feed back form. However there was no follow up and I'm unsure they reached the correct person. (As we were leaving all members of staff gathered behind the bar to wish us 'goodbye', almost mockingly but eager to take... More

We have wanted to have a meal at The Black Horse for a few years as we had read some good reviews. We treated some friends tonight as it was his birthday. The staff were not very friendly at all some very miserable. We felt like they were clearing the table almost before we had finished. They were also taking... More

Hello 97 Finchy I was also very disappointed to read your review and that you did not have a good experience, especially when it was your friend’s birthday. It is certainly not acceptable and I will be speaking strongly to the staff who were on duty on the day you visited. Please accept my sincere apologies for the poor treatment... More

We visited in the off chance and hadn't booked. The wait for a table was an hour due to a large booking but we were happy to sit at the bar and have a couple of drinks. After our first drink we waited for the bar man to notice our glasses were empty. He didn't so my partner asked for... More

Hello Tracy O Oh dear! I do not know what was going on this week at The Black Horse but I will be speaking with the staff about their attitude and lack of customer care skills. It is certainly not the norm at The Black Horse for our customers to receive such service and it is not acceptable. The only... More

Description
The Black Horse is a family owned Inn with character and style set in a small hamlet in Bedfordshire. The Black Horse was built in the 17th Century, and although it has been updated and given a contempory style, it still holds its charm and character. With it's exposed original beams, inglenook fireplace and low ceilings, the bar is warm and welcoming - perfect for relaxing with a drink or a glass of wine. The restaurant consists of two distinct dining areas each offering their own unique style and atmosphere with either garden or courtyard outlooks. Our seasonally changed menu's use only the freshest ingredients sourced locally (where possible). The dishes are expertly prepared and presented by a team of highly qualified chef's.
