My family and I had lunch at Miriam’s each of the three days we spent in San Gerardo de Dota. Miriam and her family members cooked our “comidas tipicas” (typical local cuisine) in the tiny kitchen next to the restaurant. They took turns serving and clearing. By day three, it was like being fed by members of our own family.... More

If you are going to Saavegre I recommend stoping by Miriam Restaurant. I had one of the best Tilapias I have ever had and at very low prices. It was served with homemade rice, beans and picadillo. Simpy delighting! Unluckily large hotels of the area are all inclusive and therefore do not support local business. If you visit this area... More

We had two dinners and one breakfast at Miriam's. The whole fish dinner (we had it both nights) was excellent! Staff was friendly and attentive. Great view of birds at outdoor feeders. One afternoon we stopped in for a cold drink and Miriam kindly gave us some delicious home made sweets as a treat. We did a birding tour with... More

The high reviews are so right! The staff was extremely pleasant, Bird feeders are set up behind the restaurant, providing rice (cooked!) and platanos for birds and it was wonderful watching the many colorful birds. La comida tipica was probably the best we had in our week in Costa Rica. Miriam's is immaculate--even the restrooms were spotless and had fresh... More

We stopped by on our way out of San Gerardo de Dota area. The place was a little busy and looking at the back porch with all the beautiful birds we quickly realized why. We had a huge meal there, the chicken was to die for and my husband completely devoured it, saying:" This is by far the best meal... More

We stayed in one of Miriam's cabin last night. Her small restaurant sits off the road above the cabins. We had a delicious lunch of local trout with rice and veggies -- simple but delicious. Lots of birds outside on the lovely porch with mountain viewing area.

Beside the good food Miriam and her family are known for the hospitality and have been a land mark for bird watchers for more than 20 years

Went with my gf for lunch. The place is clean, simple and offers a menu of mainly Costarrican normal lunch food and some standard diner food like burgers and sandwiches. It's ok for a lunch but nothing special for a local. Might be a bit -but not lots- more interesting to foreigners.

A restaurant where you feel as though you are joining Miriam and her family for a home cooked meal. Everything is delicious and fresh, especially the trout. She seasons everything simply and with care. The dessert after dinner is an awesome touch and the small fruit bowl and banana bread were excellent.
