The place is very nice, clean, nice view of the river. Food is good but not amazing. Beverages are very good and attention is very good also.

Dear Marcela P, Thank you very much for your visit to Cafe Kahawa and San Gerardo de Dota. Delighted to hear you enjoyed our location and our service, but of course, we are concerned that you didnt find our food to be amazing. We truly work hard to offer a varied menu using local products, fresh ingredients from our hydroponics... More

My friends and I were visiting Costa Rica during May. On route to our resort we stopped by Cafe Kahawa for lunch. It definitely was a good idea. The menu is short but has enough options. Trout is their speciality. The place has a lovely view of the ridge/valley next door. Net-net, a place I would definitely recommend for a... More

Dear RahulPratti, Thanks so much for your visit to Cafe Kahawa. Our Cafe offers, as you say, a small menu, where we have created trout specialties as our main dish, but are glad to offer other options such as chicken and our great Bean Soup (our Costa Rican specialty which is great also for vegetarians). Our dedicated staff works in... More

There is a menu with a limited offer of snacks, sandwiches and some warm items, trout is omnipresent. Nice view and good alternative for the buffet offer in the neighbourhood

We only had coffee and apple pie but it was delicious. We asked for more coffee because the view and the weather was perfect that day. You can even take a walk on the surroundings. I will definitely recommend it.

This is a delightful restaurant with some great trout offerings on it's menu. I really enjoy the Trout Sandwich that they serve, but even more, I love the open air feel and the view right by the Savegre River.

We had lunch here after our walk to the waterfall. The place looks great and very clean and offered exactly what we needed. The menu isn't big, but has all the right things for a good lunch. We had the Kuku Wrap, and the Trout Sandwich. Both were great with fries added. They were really friendly and we would really... More

There are not many restaurants in san gerardo de dota, but this one is defenitely worth visiting. It looks really nice and clean in the middle of the mountains. I had the fresh trout out of the river so a local dish and it was perfect!

We were staying at the nearby Savegre resort and wanted to go off the property to try something different for dinner. We saw online that cafe Kahawa had a variety of trout dishes that sounded good, so we decided to try it. We ordered fish and chips, trout tacos, and trout in a coconut milk sauce. All three dishes were... More

After a 2.5km walk downhill from Trogon Lodge where the Quetzals flew on our walk down, the family & I enjoyed a super lunch at this very pleasant & friendly cafe. Freshly sourced produce of which we had hot sandwiches of ham & cheese, trout & other fillings with French fries or homemade coleslaw enjoyed with a lemon mint tea... More

San Gerardo is somewhat isolated, but there are good dining options, and this is one of them. Lovely setting next to the river, great service, and good food. They specialize in trout, the local product. I had the fried trout basket and the trout dip as starter. They were both delicious. My companion had the pasta which wasn't quite as... More
