Like the title states, this pizza is absolutely amazing! Some of the best pizza I've ever had, with homegrown ingredients and made from scratch. So so good. Perfect for a pick me up after a long day of hiking. The owner John is very friendly and sweet. An absolute must if you're in the area and craving a slice or... More

This was a wonderful piece of home in the middle of the Costa Rican rain forest. The picture I've posted is the view from our table. The pizza is brick oven and toppings are almost anything you could want! I got basil, black olives and green olives (which is a specialty 'za that I can't remember the name of). We... More

We stayed about 100 yards from Pizza John's and went there twice in the 3 days we stayed. The Pizza was excellent and the service was great. The best part our stay in the area was the ice cream. Absolutely the best I have ever had in my 45 years. If you ever have the chance to stop here don't... More

If you have been around Costa Rica long enough you know there's pizza places everywhere. A few are good, most are average. Pizza John's lives up to its reviews. Good service, everyone was friendly and the pizza was excellent. We grabbed 2 to go for 5 of us. Normally there's a slice or 2 left over but not tonight. It's... More

After a long morning and pushing our lunch time hour, we decided to check out El Castillo. With two teens in tow, we settled on Pizza John's. When we pulled up we weren't sure if it was open but before we could drive away, Juan came out to lure us in and we weren't disappointed! We could see the dough... More

We stayed at Majestic Lodge and had read reviews of this place which was very close by. Simple place with surprisingly good pizza. Ended up eating here 2x for dinner and went back one more time with kids just for their homemade ice cream. Get the margarita pizza with fresh basil they grow themselves-delicious. Owners are low key, friendly characters... More

This place is off the beaten path. Don't miss it! This was one of our favorite stops in CR. Juan was an excellent host. He shared lots of great facts about the local wildlife we were seeing (the upstairs patio is great for bird watching). The food was delicious and the atmosphere was relaxed!

The pizza is made fresh for each customer. The calzone is mouth watering. The home made ice cream is made with real cream and fresh fruit. We enjoyed dining a la fresco and chatting with our friendly waiter. Highly recommended. Worth the drive from the Observatory or the Butterfly Museum.

This is the BEST pizza. Friendly peeps (Tell Juan hey from Aaron with the goatee!). And a great way to get to know the area. Loved it and will return.

Pizzas were well made and ingredients were top notch. We enjoyed talking to the owners and even tried some of their raw dough. Ice cream was some of the best we ever had. If you get the chance, it is on the road from Arenal to Monteverde on the south side of the lake that only the locals take. It... More
