Went for a birthday celebration and were not disappointed - food was great and some really special wines there also. We tried their lobster and also a fillet of hake. Both were excellent. Really recommend this place for a special occasion!

We stayed one night here in a freezing December. The service was exceptional. The staff were knowledgeable and courteous - even to my noisy relatives who joined us for dinner. The seafood was fresh and perfectly prepared. The rooms are small but warm, spotless, well-equipped and comfortable. A minor gripe was no hot water in the washbasin taps and a... More

Stayed here and enjoyed two superb meals. Dining is in two charming small rooms. Service really good and the dishes are top class and very tasty with most being seafood from the area. The seafood pie is actually a stack/mould of lobster, crayfish, scallops and more and quite superb. Other highlights were the cod fillet and scallop chowder. The local... More

We had dinner here on New Year's Day and both opted for fish courses. I chose Thai Fish Cakes and the recommended Fish Pie for the main and both were excellent. The portions were generous but not too "Yorkshire" i.e too much. Thai Fish Cakes can often be disappointing in my experience as the chef either reduces the amount of... More

We visited the Estbek for the third consecutive year on Christmas day as part of our family celebration of Christmas. The menu was up to the usual very high standard and the quality and choice of food was excellent. We had a choice of lobster or traditional Christmas dinner for main course but so as not to disappoint those who... More

The place as a whole is a quaint village just out of Whitby by a few miles (you can see the Abbey from the front) and Estbek House is a gorgeous Georgian building next to a lovely pub, the Hart inn. David was fantastic as a host and let us leave the bags a few hours early as we check... More

visited for the second time , exceptional food and lovely service beautiful fresh and flavoured , cannot recommend this place enough, It is quite pricey but for a one off treat it is well worth it and my partner insists on having all deserts as they are so tempting

We booked for two nights at the end of October, being guided to some extent by Tripadvisor reviews. In no way can I fault Estbek House at all. We stayed in the Alum room, it being slightly larger than some of the others. It was spotlessly clean and spacious. We had dinner on both evenings and on both occasions the... More

Even though our last visit was two years ago, the warmest of welcomes from David and Tim made us feel instantly at home. Our party of 6 were soon enjoying a superb bottle of Jansz sparkling wine, beer and cider, before selecting from Estbek's exciting menu.....most creative as usual. The food is second to none, for freshness and quality as... More

We stayed here for one night recently, taking advantage of the discounted room if you dine in. There is parking across the road for guests which is great. The room was good, the bed very comfy with lovely bed linen. It would have been nice if water had been in the room, although I am sure they would have given... More
