Very relaxed and apparently a hub for music. We are new so we have not experienced this yet. However we have eaten here many times and find it fresh and delicious. Great coffee. No hype no pretentious attitude just local people doing there thing. We...have received good service and we will be back, lots.....More

Decorated in the style of a left bank establishment The Cafe Boulevard offers everything you could want. Superb coffee and delicious food, including their legendary quiche lorraine. Try it

Good place and often they organize music concert, meals and drinks available...never taste their food. Sometimes only take some drinks or coffee. More nice on summer and we stay on terrace.

Friday lunch time a must do after a trip to the market. Gets very busy so a reservation is a necessity on a Friday. Quiches to die for and a huge range - all perfectly cooked. Served after 12 noon and not a minute before....Menu du Jour usually fish. A good range of tap beers, excellent coffee and wine by the carafe. Great value for money, although prices have just crept up a little. Locals and visitors all get treated the same! The service is French! Been coming here for years and they just now start to recognise us. Great atmosphere and always wacky displays of “art” on the walls. Highly recommended.More

Again another venue in Melle where locals and tourists flock. Whilst only quiches on offer they were lovely, and bear and wine good.

This is very far from your typical French bar. From the winged mermaid figure suspended from the ceiling above the bar to the internet café and kids' play area at the back, this is very much the modern style of pub, aimed at younger patrons...who are interested in the quality of their beer. It serves a limited but interesting menu, which is very reasonably priced. One of the more interesting places I've experienced on this trip to France.More

What a great place! In the middle of Melle by the market square and easy to park. Artistic and friendly , packed with locals. Great collection of paintings and other arty things, my favourite is the Heinz ketchup painting The variety of tarts with salad...on offer is impressive, many vegetarian ,but there is another dish daily too. Simple food but good options on beer too. Horizontal figure of a trumpeter with wings is suspended above the bar! A community and environmental centre really and excellent value. Great centre for music too. I had a generous slice of the spinach and goats cheese tart with salad, then a strawberry sorbet and coffee, all for just over 10 euro. No bills as such but customers go up to the bar and declare what they have eaten and drunk, while the owner chats to previous customers!. Lively relaxed place for a snack drink or a meal. I booked in advance by phone and this is prudent. Great place to go. Friendly people. Highly recommended .More

Something of a bohemian interior and certainly very popular with the locals. On market days you would need to book or get there for 12 o'clock or you will not get a table. Staff are friendly and there's a constant coming and going of characters...from across the road. Food is good , basic but good value and for some weird reason we heard more English voices in here than we had for a while in an area not noted for les ros-bifs en vaccance.More

But I'm not sure about the lasting impression. I recall sitting in there thinking the place could do with a clean! I'm sure I'm being a bit unkind on them but I wasn't certain as to what effect they were going for. It looked liked...it was trying really hard to be aloof, bohemian etc but it fell a bit flat, the place merely felt gloomy. The food also wasn't brilliant, we've had far better in far more earthy cafes before. The chips weren't cooked, the cakes were underdone too, plus the coffee was poor. I don't wish to be too hard as the service was friendly enough and the fellow customers were also welcoming. Sorry chaps, this one isn't for me.More

Called in for a snack and had a delightful quiche with salad. A lot of home grown produce is apparently used. Also they brew their own beer. A nice little stop.
