The service was not up to usual Japanese high standards. We took a ticket and wandered around for 20 mins whilst waiting for a table - then they tried to seat us on the floor which we find too uncomfortable. The food service was slow, and only one meal was delivered when we clearly ordered two. Food quality no complaints... More

I've had plenty of tempura here and this is just not great. The breeding is very heavy and it is so fried that it's soggy and sitting in grease. I prefer my tempura lightly battered and not greasy. The pickles were fine but I won't be back.

I have eaten lots of great tempura but this was by far the worst tempura I've ever had. The batter was heavy and greasy with oil dripping as you bite into it and it was nothing like light and crispy batter that you can expect from a good tempra restaurant. I was so disgusted with my dish that I removed... More

Here because of a review. My opinion is the tempura is abit too soft. I do like the sauce on top of the rice anyway. Good to experience it. Nice location too near senso ji temple. Asakusa

Stumbled upon this place as there was a long queue outside and a good smell from within. Glad we did. Food was tasty and different to tempura we have had before. It wasn't greasy and meal for 2 with drinks came in at just over 4,600yen which isn't bad in our opinion.

If I could do zero stars I would! Came here on the recommendation from trip advisor and I still feel gross! Absolutely greasy and flat. Feel so sad that the fish and prawn died for nothing. No vegetable tempura either! Absolutely overpriced and service was non existent. And to add the toilet was gross! Please please please AVOID!!!!!! Tempura should... More

Chance upon this place after visiting senso-ji. Saw a long queue outside the restaurant, so as a typical tourist, we decided to joint the queue too. We didn't regret. It is the best tendon! Tempura is fried with sesame oil. It is not oily at all. Highly recommend if you will in Asakusa area.

The portion is big. With a big prawn, pepper, mixture of 3 prawns and vegetable mixture and a seasonal fried fish. The rice is piping hot with sauce. End the tendon with cold sake. DELICIOUS.

This shop is located in Sensoji Temple area. Long queue always and waited 20min to be seated in. Price slightly expensive, but the Ebi tempura tastes very good which came with the don rice bowl set.

Our expectations were fairly high for some first class tempura here, especially after a 30 minute wait for a table and then another wait to order and for the food to arrive. Then, the tempura were,if not soggy, definitely not crisp. If I 'd been at home I would have sent them back but here I do not have the language... More

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
