We were adviced by a Japanese waiter in a bar to go to Ichiran for their delicious ramen. And we were really amazed by their way of cooking and how customized can the ramen be ! You can choose firmness of pasta, spiciness, oil, onions, .... The service is fast and people are kind. During our 3 weeks trip in... More

This ramen has offered plenty of choices to customize your own favorite taste of ramen. My mum loves it so much. Highly recommended.

The queue was Long as to all other outlets. We waited 45mins to get into the shop, the ramen is okay but not great. Price is expensive as compared to the other ramen shop as well.

Best ramen that I've tried so far. The broth is not too thick/heavy and it's really tasty. The flavor is balanced. Level is spiciness will give you just enough kick. Will definitely go back here when we visit Ueno again.

I was hesitant to come here due to the fact that it is chain and pretty large place but my worries were well and truly gone after I had been here. I was in the Ueno area and thought I would try this place out before jumping on the train. It was around 12pm and a there was a line of... More

Good experience to eat ramen, the place is not big as mostly all japanese restautant and the cost for the ramen is 890Yen. The portion is not big. And you need to wait in long line to eat. One person one cubical place to eat. If you travel in big group, it will be hard to sit together.

Very good ramen! And very interesting experience! Individual booths that can also be "opened " up if you want to eat with your friends. Efficient service. But due to the queues, probably not a place to hang out. Eat and let others enjoy the food!

I'm completely addicted to pork broth ramen. I could eat it every day. I've tried many in Japan and this is up there with the best of them for sure. Definitely worth a visit

I was a ramen fan. The first meal I went hunting was ramen. As Ichiran was nearby Ueno station, i decided to go for it. There is a short queue even at 1130am before lunch time in a weekday. I queued for about 15-20 mins. There is 2 standard selection with egg or without. The price is very adorable. I... More

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
