This is one of thousands of small restaurants around Tokyo with their plastic displays of food in the front window. I found this curious but very helpful. Our group had dumplings, miso, noodles, soup, and stir fry. Some chicken and pork was added in. We...More

We were at the end of our 2 week Japan trip and wanted something different. Great bar atmosphere and the food was excellent!

This is one of the oldest bars in town. Drinks are reasonable for Tokyo and there is a good selection. Large vodka rum (ram) for 430 and try the electric brandy for 270. High alcohol and very nice flavor. The food selection is good. Nothing...More

My OH found this place as he was looking for somewhere to try the famous 'Electric Brandy'. Be warned, nothing is in English so we had to rely on pointing at the plastic drinks/foods in the cabinet to order from the cashier. You take a...More

Kamiya bar encompasses all that I appreciate about TOKYo and JAPAN's food and beverage culture. No frills, understated quality and finesse, lovely atmosphere of regulars who come here because it's an institution and it's GOOD. I had a great experience here and would love to...More

Then you'll feel right at home. Big smoking area, wooden tables and the loudest crowd I've heard in three weeks. Finally some emotion, even if that emotion is 'being drunk.' Don't go with your family but mos def go with your friends.

This traditional restaurant-bar located shortly to Senso-jo temple is a must. The prawn tempuras are the best that i proved. Good local beer and their traditional brandy should accompany this attempt. You pay in advance and for sure it worths!

Very close to Kaminarimon, this restaurant is famous for its Denki Bran liquor. Denki means Electricity and Bran is odd abbreviation of Brandy. It is a brady based liquor, mixed with white wine, curaçao,gin etc and tastes like German Underberg. They selected the word Electricity...More

A few minutes from River Boat terminal of Asakusa. Quite known for its special drink named "Denki Buran". I don't drink alcohol, so I just sipped it and found out it is quite strong drink. We had many dishes, and they were all tasty. Most...More

Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old
Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa.
Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit
a variety of different museums and galleries. At
Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the
grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed
alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at
the end of the year, when many people go on shopping
