Nice place, great helpful staff, interesting experience when you fry the okonomiyaki yourself. The place is very japanese. Prices around 800 yen per dish (various options). "Pizza pizza pizza, sauce sauce sauce, seaweed seaweed seaweed" is how you make it ;)

This was our very las lunch in Tokyo before going home and we enjoyed this whole experience a lot. The restaurant is tiny but cute and I can imagine it might be pretty hot in summer but in October it was fine. You can pay only by cash, so be ready for that. However, the meal is not expensive and... More

Wonderful lunch that you mix and cook yourself. Off the beaten path. Okonomiyaki is delicious. Sitting at low tables on a tatami mat is a test for my legs, but the food, service was very helpful and fun. Great experience of Japanese common food and culture. Cash only, no A/C ( might be too hot on a hot day)

We went to this restaurant in our day in Asakusa. The food was very good and tasty, but the best was the chef cooking the food in front of us...

I don't know what these people are talking about poor service. I went here solo (travelling for work) and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Food was tasty too.

Found when wandering around the restaurants accessories shops we stopped there after reading TripAdvisor recommendations. We didn't regret it : you get to prepare your own okonomyaki with the help of the waitress and cook your food. It was fresh and tasty and one of the best okonomyaki we've had so far. The DIY adds probably to the pleasure of... More

Stumbled upon this place. People waiting, sitting on stools outside (good sign). Fairly rustic, well used facility. No English spoken here; limited English in the menu was somewhat confusing. We ordered from pictures. Pork, vegetables & chow mein noodles, cooked right in front of us on a hot griddle (you sit on the floor on well used tatami mats). I... More

We had Okonomiyaki, which was really good! Someone called it Japanese pizza, which is not really true, more a bit like a Tortilla, and you should really try it if you don't know it. The staff helped us in the beginning - since you must prepare the dish yourself on a big hotplate you sit around in the floor. But... More

The whole experience was pretty great - from the decor (including low tables), the service to the actual okonomiyaki. But as per all the other reviews, note that it's pretty hot in this place (as expected with all those cooking plates)!

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
