Arriving around 10 PM with my son, with a bunch of suitcases directly from Disney, we were warmly created. Kohei Spoke English and was so accommodating. We tried three different types of Wagyu and they were all delicious. I had the Korean pancake with squid...ink and it was great. The prices were reasonable. Yes there’s a cover charge, but I don’t even think about it as including the cabbage, I look at it as the cleanup charge for the hibachi grill. A small price to pay for the excellent meat and wonderful service. It is in a lively area and I would definitely recommend this restaurant. I’ve been to Tokyo many times and this is now one of my favorites. Even the wagyu sushi was delicious!More

We decided on having one expensive meal in Tokyo - and Blackhole did not disappoint. Five star service, and absolutely mouthwatering meat. We were in Heaven! I can safely say I’ve not had beef that tasty before or after. The meal was really filling, the...sides were lovely, and we had lots of sake and highballs. Delish! We even made friends with the table next to us who were equally enjoying themselves. The only negative was that it was kind of hard to find; I didn’t realise there were multiple Blackhole restaurants and places pretending to be Blackhole restaurants in Shinjuku. I didn’t notice any extra charges so I can’t speak to the welcome lettuce/sides that others are upset about. We had a fantastic and memorable meal.More

THE GOOD: The beef was as great as other real Wagyu. Over charcoal grill Surprised by their large cuts and big portions. Service was great, ambiance was very cosy. Great exhaust system, they even allow smoking. Prices were reasonable. I would have rated this 5...Stars, but.... I guess most foreigners can’t read the bill. They charged us ¥500 each for a bowl of shreded cabbage which described as “welcome” cabbage when given to us. So upon questioning this, i was shown this page (see picture), that was hardly visible and appears only on English menu, not on the local menu. They had added 10% cover charge on entire bill including the cabbage. Had we had dinner past 10 pm, it would have an additional 10%. Had we not ordered drinks, they would have added ¥200 each for water. There is no warning at all for any of this charges. THIS IS AN OUTRIGHT DECEPTION, so I rate this 1 star because of that. TO MANAGER: We enjoyed our meal very much and I find our total bill of $120 very reasonable. It deserves 5 stars. But deception is unethical and un-Japanese, most of all UNNECESSARY.More

I am not a huge fan of meat- I never used to crave it much at all. My mother used to cook steak all of the time- and every time she made it I would think, “why do people like this stuff when you have...to chew every bite for twenty minutes?” My brother would squirrel his away in napkins that found their way into the trash. All eyes were on my every movement. I was stuck chewing most of the evening. In the 80’s you couldn’t claim you just didn’t like things. Dinner had to be eaten. Pork, I have always loved. I love pork so much that when we used to visit the pigs at the farm when our kids were little, I would be licking my chops. They smell delicious to me even when they smell terrible. Chicken I love when it’s smoked. So when we had approximately $200 left over on our last day in Tokyo, I thought, let’s give Blackhole a try. Years of watching Iron chef made me crave the fatty beef of Japan. It was seriously the best beef I have ever had. Since my childhood, I’ve had Chateau Briand and Filet mignon at Fancy DC restaurants. This was a gazillion times better. I ate all of mine after I graced it with about a minute on the grill. My daughter cooked every piece of hers til it was well done. We finished all of it, ordered more (too much overall fat intake after second go round, we were feeling stuffed)- finished that too. Then for the next four months, I obsessively thought about the beef there. This was one of my top four meat experiences ever. They are: luau pork in Maui, Black Hole beef (all of it), homemade smoked chicken which my friend smoked, and quail from I think Christiana Campbell’s in Williamsburg, VA (although it may have been from Kings Arms). Highly recommend! Although I wish they offered more vegetables.More

Had a great time eating at the Black Hole, had the Kobe beef special and it was delish. I was perfect for the 2 of us and our meal included 7 cuts of Kobe Beef, soup, a potato dish, veggies, salad and all you can...drink for one price. So worth it and fun to cook your own food over charcoal grill. Had a private dining room which made the experience even better!More

Worth trying the experience, the staff is friendly, The best option is to get the "combo where you get the premium beef and the extras, like vegetables, rice, soup and a drink. You grill the food in front of you.

A casual yakiniku place. The beef are of decent quality and friendly waiter/waitress. We went back there twice for the value. Note that there is a cover charge for the use of the BBQ.

We tried a walk-in but had to come back later in the evening. Glad we did. The experience was great. We had our own room and attentive waiter. It is a cook your own barbecue but very tasty indeed. Meat was very tender. We knocked...over a bottle of wine with dinner and weren't too shocked by the bill. I think this is definitely worth a try.More

Right next to golden gai is this lovely restaurant. Yes, it may not look traditional Japanese, however it is great. The quality of meats is high and the beer is cold. You can smoke inside, this may be a turn off for some. Been here...twice now and both times have not disappointed. i think from memory i spent approx. $90 usd a head here with 3 beers each. The salad that is free is lovely and they offer free top ups.More

Actually I and my wife didn't mean to dine at this restaurant in the first place. Our original target was a yakiniku restaurant called Toraji, across the street, but it was fully booked and we had to wait for almost two hours to get a...table. While we were leaving with disappointment, we noticed that there was actually another yakiniku restaurant just opposite Toraji which offered quite similar menu. Although I did not expect much from this place, I would say that I was quite surprised by its quality of food and services. The staffs were totally foreigners friendly...most of them can communicate in English (they even have a foreigner staff). Also, menu is displayed in both Japanese and English. As for the food, I would recommend to order "Uebara" (Karubi Plate) and "Negitansuji" (Beef tongue tendon with onion topping). The Uebara really melted in your mouth!!! one of the best beef I have had in my life. The negative point may be the pricing. We ended up paying almost JPY10,000 for both. Anyway, I didn't regret paying at all as the quality of food and services we had did really exceed the amount we paid.More

My cousin and I ate here the first night we arrived in Shinjuku. It was a really cool place and had an English menu so we knew what we were ordering! The restaurant is set up in a way where they can section every table...off so you have a lot of privacy and you cook everything right at your table. You will probably smell a bit like BBQ smoke though afterwards, so just keep that in mind.More
