We booked 2 weeks in advance for our trip there....had read they had good sukiyaki...was disappointed to arrive and find we were in the back room...by the the spare tables, seats...we were the only foreigners in the place...the rest of the patrons were in the regular area...the food was tasty...but the service felt removed...not friendly...too bad...

We made reservation at 7pm. Greet by friendly and English speaking staff. We ordered one abundant marbled beef set and one matsusaka beef set. The staff showed us the method of eating shabu. She dipped the cooked matsusaka beef with their in house peanut sauce and ask us to eat. We were so disappointed as all we could taste was... More

I went to Kisoji with my boyfriend and we decided to try the shabu shabu. It was really delicious and the service was great. The dinner was served in a typical Japanese style room. I recommend it if you want to have a taste of the real Japanese cuisine.

My first trip to Japan and my first Shabu Shabu meal. Wow! We ordered the "basic" level of beef and it was nicely marbled. We tried the two different sauces and neither my boss nor I much cared for the peanut-based sauce. It wasn't bad but it just wasn't as good as the other more clear sauce. We both "doctored"... More

Having read TA reviews my wife and I went on a Saturday evening for dinner without reservation as we had been on the move all day and couldn't be sure what time we would be ready for dinner. So we made a reservation for the next evening and got the staff to put in writing our reservation on a business... More

Tried the 6200 yen beef shabu shabu set. It comes with about 3-4 pieces of beef per person including vegetables, tofu, noodles and dessert which is quite adequate for myself who is not a big eater. The beef was really good and you just need about 2 seconds to get it cooked and the very thinly-sliced beef will just melt... More

Return visit to this place with another couple and we each ordered the 5400-yen beef set. The meal was excellent as always, from start to finish. Service was very good, with the waitresses coming over to cook the food for you, or if you preset, you can also DIY.

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
