English menu, staff helpful, very good chicken wings and especially enjoyed the seared beef. Also recommend the garlic rice although not sure it's vegetarian!

Two of us were overwhelmed by the choices available just outside our hotel and we just picked one and went in - level 3. No reservations - sorry full - only smoking available - it's Friday 6pm! But we were first in line so we said we will wait - lots of people coming in & then being turned away... More

A bit compact and small place. and could not find seats on one occassion in the non-smoking area. Visted twice in our 5 night stay at Shinjuku. Tried about six dishes and all were tasty. Serve size was good. On both occassions we were served by a very efficient Indonesian girl. Price - very moderate.

Food is cheap and hit or miss. The service was sketchy. They were rushing our group, which I found a little surprising. Drinks are reasonably priced. The place is huge, occupying three or four floors. Salads were good and large.

There are many locations for Watami. If you find one, go. They have an english menu. They also have non-smoking rooms! Usually Izukaya places have a lot of smokers. but this one has a non-smoking section. Food is very inexpensive and very good. they have grilled musubis, hot pot, fried chicken, salmon belly and much more. They change the menu... More

This restaurant is only two blocks from the Hilton and Hyatt in Shinjuku but I was nervous about taking my family here because the menu is entirely in Japanese. However, the large pictures really helped out a lot, so I just pointed to what we wanted. You need to take your shoes off to sit down as they put it... More

This restaurant is a favorite of the Japanese office workers. If you go here for dinner you will find large groups relaxing and having fun. The food was reasonably priced but ordinary. They allow smoking in the restaurant so if you are sensitive to second hand smoke this is not a place for you

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
