This restaurant and bar is everything it should be. Its decadent but comfortable. The service is impeccable but surprisingly (in a good way) its casual and unobtrusive. The steak and tuna steak were to die for, as were the sides. Cocktails were great, albeit on the pricey side. We had reserved a table by the window about 2 months prior,... More

Drinks aren't cheap (although ~£15 for s cocktail isn't actually too bad) but the view is absolutely stunning. No cover charge before 8 - if you can get up before 6 you'll be able to enjoy sunset and a couple of hours of drinks.

I went there with my girlfriend on April, we had no reservation so they gave us a table next to the wall opposite side of the window. I asked the butler if we could move closer to the window and he said he'd do his best, 10 min later we had the best table in the restaurant next to the... More

Went here with my partner for lunch and had an amazing time. Not cheap but the food plus view was excellent and totally worth it.

I guess you have to visit it if you are a fan of Lost in Translation to see it for yourself. But i wouldn't go back. It's much smaller than it seems to be in a movie and quite packed with some customers smoking like chimneys. The atmosphere and views are probably better in a bar a few floors below... More

Amazing view, outstanding service, lovely food and fantastic music. Thoroughly enjoyed our night out dining at the New York Bar restaurant and then moving over to the bar to listen to the jazz band. The view is breathtaking and certainly a great experience to see Tokyo up high by night. The ambience is superb. The food was well cooked and... More

The NY bar at Hyatt is very popular place for a drink. We happened to arrive just before open at 5pm and got a table by the window and had great views. We enjoyed the food and drinks so much so ended up staying for a few hours. It's expensive but worth it for an evening. Good entertainment from the... More

The New York Bar is obviously worth a visit if you're a fan of Lost in Translation. I had always wanted to visit this iconic movie set, so when I was in on my own in Tokyo during a trip for work, I had to go there. It's hard to find at first, but employees in the building lobby are... More

While the "Lost in Translation" fame is a draw card, this place really is a treat all on its own. The Park Hyatt hotel (where it is located) is a little remote, but is absolutely beautiful in the aesthetically beautiful and simple way that only the Japanese (and perhaps the Scandinavians ?) seem to get right, with lighter coloured woods... What more can a girl ask for? Cocktails with a wonderful view of the Tokyo skyline at night in the bar featured in the film 'lost in translation'

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
