We had been recommended a visit and were all excited when we got a reservation. Very exciting to search for the restaurant in a surprising location. The rest was disappointing. Service was rude. No menu or english speaking staff. That is ok in general if the staff is open and trying to help. That was not the case here. We... More

Really hard to find .. especially if you don't speak Japanese. It's a proper secret squirrel location. Im sure when we got there, we ended up on our hands and knees going through some hidden door. I may have been mistaken Food was great. Only japanese menu. Really buzzy. We had our own little booth. Well recommended. Off the tourist... More

It's a bit difficult to find but totally worth it. You have to follow the direction of tripadvisor, when you will arrive to a 7 eleven on the right there is an entrance with a letter "dynast", go straight to this entrance until the end when you will find a door to The open air, to a corridor next to... Yes it was hard to find, but worth it. Menu had some English too which helps. Def get the karaage - best I've had in Japan. But all the food was tasty and the prices are very reasonable. Plan to go back. To find the place head up the stairs down the corridor, open the door on your right and... More

Thoroughly enjoyed shirube. This restaurant serves an interesting appetizer of crackers with avocado and Tuna sashimi dip( this is so good!!! A must order) almost every table had that. We also tried their oden- winter melon in a tasty broth. The wasabi is a true killer so eat sparingly. The next dish we tried was the beef tendon and eggplant... More

The hidden entrance of this cool restaurant is something what you need to check out when you are in Shibuya. Take-Sake (Japanese Sake served in a bamboo) tastes very good. 入り口が特徴的で、お料理もおしゃれなものが多く、しかし居酒屋的フランクな雰囲気を保つ素敵なレストラン。外国人の友人などに大変喜ばれる。特に外国人の方は竹酒に心を奪われる。

Go there to enjoy a funny night with friends and get the special offer menu with unlimited beer. Food quality is average, for sure you can get better in Tokyo, but the location and good price make sense. PLUS the "secret" Location good price MINUS Crowded and noisy average quality of food SUGGESTIONS Need to book much in advance As... More

My japanese friends took me here, it was quite hard to find but its 100% worthy. Went till the end of the aisle in a small building and turn right, you will find the restaurant on the right, looks like a cave with a tiny low entrance. The food here is amazingly great i cant even describe by words. Chef... More

This hidden izakaya was a little difficult to find like the reviews say, however its worth looking for! to the left of the ABC mart, walk down the corridor at the end turn right so you have the train tracks on the left handside and at the end of this corridor you will see a small door way, crouch down... Hidden away behind a small arcade off a Main Street in the popular district of Shibuya-ku, this amazing hidden gastronomic / good value restaurant was recommended by a fellow Aussie working in Tokyo for some years. Entrance is via a rear path which leads to a camouflaged rough timber half-opening door where you bend down to enter and take off... More

Staying in Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu

Neighbourhood Profile
Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu
There are countless opportunities to shop in the Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast, Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool. At the Museum of Yebisu Beer you can learn about the beer that was responsible for the town’s name, and enjoy dining at the popular noodle shops in the surrounding area.
