No matter where we stay in Tokyo on our frequent visits to Japan, we come "home" to Homework's when we have a craving for tasty, nicely prepared Western-style sandwiches and salads. On our most recent visit, we were not disappointed. Though Homework's especially excels with its gourmet beef burgers (offered in three sizes), I was in the mood for a... More

The reviews here are generally spot on. A mid-range place in upscale Hiroo, Homework's is a nice alternative to Japanese food (if that's what you're looking for). The burgers and salad's are fresh and tasty, which is generally the case in Tokyo which takes their food seriously. The atmosphere is cafe-like, with a mixture of ex-pats and locals, representative of... More

Hungry and looking for a burger. My quest for an awesome burger brings me to Homework. Decided on this one after searching Yelp. Conveniently located a few minutes walk from Hibiya line Hiroo station. The food: I ordered the fried Jalapeños and the mushroom burger. The fried Jalapeños were from their seasonal menu. I don't recommend it. Too salty and... More

Liked: Great sandwiches, burgers and fries, love the sweet potato fries in particular. Chicken is also great. Very accommodating of families with children Disliked: More expensive than similar places close by.

We discovered this restaurant many years ago on one of our frequent trips to Tokyo and have returned on all subsequent visits. This eatery presents a nice Western alternative to standard Japanese fare. I never eat beef in the United States but cannot resist the hamburgers served at Homework's. They are freshly prepared; topped with fresh lettuce, tomatoes and other... More

Homeworks has interesting specials and uses quality ingredients. They incorporate seasonal vegetables into their sandwiches quite well -- like the recent spring cabbage burger. My family has eaten here a few times and have enjoyed it. Kids menu is fine and well-priced. Kids can get a cheese sandwich and a bit of fries for $6-7. With a regular sandwich, no... More

We decided to have a go at this hamburger joint. We were not disappointed. The hamburgers and fries were mighty tasty. The service was fast and efficient. It's located next to a school so there were school kids in there eating their meal and enjoying time with their friends before heading home to mom & dad.

I had heard this was an amazing place but must admit I was a tad disappointed. Staff seemed scattered and un-attentive. The burgers/sandwiches were huge! (which is a novelty in Japan) but I felt they lacked a certain something... flavour. The sides cost extra which is fine but don't order a small unless you are okay with a ridiculously small... More

From time to time I long for a good sandwich. Tokyo does not have that many places that serve you more than the standard white-bread BLT or tuna. Homeworks is definitely a saviour in that respect. It definitely is not a New York style make your own kind of place. but it does have a large menu with lot of... More

Staying in Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu

Neighbourhood Profile
Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu
There are countless opportunities to shop in the Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast, Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool. At the Museum of Yebisu Beer you can learn about the beer that was responsible for the town’s name, and enjoy dining at the popular noodle shops in the surrounding area.
