My gorgeous wife called it four courses into the nine course degustation. It is not a title she would bandy about lightly, and six months later she stands by her judgment. This was, and remains, she says, the single best meal she's ever had. Me too. We've both had some decent meals in Japan and other places before and since:... More

I read about this restaurant prior to getting to Tokyo and, after reading about so many people who had not been able to get a reservation, I was pleasantly surprised when I was able to land one. I was even more pleasantly surprised at the speed of response to my emails! The restaurant is very small (I think there were... More

The food is lovely there, there is no doubt. but because me and my partner went to many other restaurants before takazawa, we realised that ultimately the vibe, the food, and the price was not worth it. if i could change one place out of my whole trip to japan, i would save my money here. we went to 8... One of the best, if not the best dining experience we've had in Japan. A complete opposite from our dinner at Narisawa the night before which was one of the worst meals we've ever had..... Every dish was a feast for the senses. From the presentation down to the taste, everything was so unique and it was something we've haven't... More

Just around the corner from the main restaurant Chef Takazawa and his wife Akiko preside over what is probably the best bar in Tokyo. The food here is much simpler than that in the restaurant but the quality of ingredients and the imagination and skill with which they are presented is fully the equal of the more formal dining room.... Chef Takazawa san and his delightful wife Akiko know how to take care of those seeking a dining experience of exceptional diversity, quality and taste. Each time I have visited you experience something so out of the ordinary, you wonder how he thinks it up !! This time around it was the "Big Shell Fish" which was the largest and... More

Takazawa was one of the top dining experiences of my life, for reasons beyond the food. We made our reservation well in advance after trying for over a year. The small but beautifully appointed restaurant had only three tables for a total of 6 patrons dining. Everything felt so personal and unique. The food obviously blew us away, specifically the... You probably should google the restaurant and read the reviews (Some of the older ones refer to the old name of the establishment; Aronia de Takazawa) as they can write better, and it is not easy to adequately express the whole experience. As you step through the front door (which is in an alley so don't miss it), pass the... More
