Season of goose fish is winter. Its excelent and elegant taste is loved by many japanese. If you are try eating special japanese food, I recomend goose fish hot pot. Also, liver is something like foie gras, they enjoy liver with soy source and vinegar.

If you want to try traditional Japanese cuisine give this restaurant a try. The building is an interesting older structure tucked away amongst new buildings. We went there for lunch, & tried one of their famous monk fish dish & yanagawa-nabe, quite tasty & prices are reasonable.

Isegen exceeded our expectations in every way. We ordered the famous monkfish stew plus some pork braised in soy sauce and mirin, and finished off with grilled eel on rice. The meal was prepared with great attention to detail, from the delicate flavours of each dish to their attractive presentation. Eating in the historical surroundings added to the amazing experience... More

Had one of the monkfish lunch specials which was a stewed version that came with rice, miso soup, pickles and an appetizer of grated mountain yam. The monkfish was sparse, just a few bits of meat here and there, mostly skin and innards which were inedible. The owner of the restaurant explained that monkfish was not in season during summer... Isegen is 180 years old, and has been in the family for six generations. The current building dates dates from 1930. Customers sit on small cushions on tatami mats. Isegen one thing: monkfish. The signature dish is monkfish nabe, a stew of monkfish and vegetables. Be aware, however, that you get all parts of the fish, i.e., lots of organ... More

Ochanomizu / Akihabara / Kanda
Ochanomizu boasts its academic foundations starting with Yushima Seido, the birthplace of modern day Japanese education. The area has kept its college town feel with several university campuses. If you head towards Jinbocho, you'll find musical instrument and sports equipment shops, and an area of used bookstores for students and anyone interested in literature and the arts. Akihabara is well-known for its computer and electronic goods stores, and is now hugely popular as the must-visit mecca for people interested in anime and games. Kanda is an office district where you can find loads of reasonably priced izakayas popular with professionals who stop to eat and drink before making their way home.
