Arrived at 10:30 am, a full hour before they opened for lunch during the week and was the first one in line! At 11:20, some lady came out to take down the number of folks in my party and I was welcomed in right at 11:30, leaving my shoes at the front door. The restaurant is very traditional and upscale.... Located in a rather quiet neighbourhood, the restaurant carries with it a very traditional atmosphere which I found to be a very pleasant surprise. While the location can be a bit confusing even if you use google maps, it is a very worthwhile trip especially if you wish to enjoy some very delicious eel. The price can be a bit... More

Visited as a couple for lunch on a Saturday. Location-wise its less than 10 minutes walking from Minami-senju JR station. There is a map outside the station--follow the Joban rail track line to find the approximate area. The restaurant complex is kind of "walled off" and the entrance is on its own down a long street which looks a bit... More

The location is difficult to find. You need good preparation. But once you get into the restaurant, the atmosphere is traditional Japanese you like. The foods? Super delicious! You never find this quality of eel outside Japan.

I love unagi but am not a connoisseur or foodie by any means. Having said this, I researched the best restaurants in Tokyo ahead of a family trip. There's a debate on which restaurant has the best unagi, but all I can say is that the unagi at Obana was delicious. Where else can you order unagi that was still... More

Great service, delicious food from a simple menu. You can try carp sashimi. Be careful as it seemed to close quite early in the evening.

This is probably one of the best unagi restaurants, not just in Tokyo, or Japan, but likely, in the world! Not cheap, but you get what you pay for and one simply cannot get the same quality of unagi outside of japan... at least, I've yet to come across anything close... Go early because they don't take reservations, their last... More

The place is famous for its unagi, so you want to try to go early to avoid lines. Food is absolutely delicious and fresh, but be warned that the staff speak only Japanese. Prices are a bit steep--8000 yen for my meal--but you will by no means be let down. Nice environment with tatami mats and cushions, very traditional.
