I took my bf and and girlfriend to this amazing hidden gem and it didn't disappoint! I first came here 5 years ago, to a separate location as they had since moved, but it was just as epic as always and all of us agreed the most cheese we've ever had on one platter! My absolutely , without a doubt... More

It really can't be described how pleasant our unexpected lunch at El Artesano restaurant was when we visited. Friends described the restaurant but warned reservations were necessary. We had one day left on the lake and took our chances to visit for an early lunch on a Wednesday. Luckily the staff gave us a table and treated us like absolute... More

Imagine in an exquisite little garden that actually FEELS like Tuscany dining on 26 exquisite cheeses, an excellent array of olives and nuts, along with dried figs as you wash it down with a nice red wine. In Guatemala!!! We were delighted by our decision to have the grilled vegetables, as well. A plentiful but perfect combination. A rare meal... More

The owner is obviously passionate about his produce. He explains the taste and quality of every single cheese and cured meat. You are presented with a selection of 28 cheeses and 28 meats. These platters are accompanied by complimentary dips, pickles, fruits, olives and nuts etc. Essential to book. Service is excellent.

More kinds of cheese than you can shake a stick at. It's wonderfully overwhelming. Great wine, interesting cheese, wonderful bread and cured meats in a relaxing garden setting. Take your time here and enjoy a quiet afternoon. Personal service from the owner makes for an unforgettable experience.

Oh we really loved that place! Feels like being in Italy rather than Guatemala. Such an amazing cheese selection, also the cured meats. We had an absolutely superb lunch there. Our malbec was a bit interesting though, didnt taste like malbec at all, but well it was still okay. Definitely one of the best places in Guatemala and definite number... More

I am lucky that I get to spend 2 months a year at this beautiful month. El Artesano is my favorite. Good wine, good cheese, cured meat and so much more. How can you possibly go wrong.

Do not try to go without a reservation. The chef Dietrich personally takes care of each table, and seating is limited. This is my favorite restaurant ever. You will not be disappointed. A must for anyone traveling to or living around Lake Atitlan.
