Despite the small space and limited seating, it was fairly simple to get a seat on a sleepy Wednesday night! My daughter, relative and I had dinner at 5:30pm at the counter (I recommend the counter over the seats! You can watch the chefs in...action) ... they had the UMA-ZEN ¥3,000, while I ordered the INI-SHIE (sirloin), their top tier beef for ¥15,000. Added two glasses of red wine and walked out with a ¥22,000 bill (roughly $150). Best $150 I've spent in a restaurant. The wine isn't all that special Woodbridge Cab. But the steak was superb, especially the INI-SHIE sirloin. Just beware, it is very rich... in both ways - but delicious. If you're not sure what to order, I would recommend the TAKE-ZEN, at ¥5,000 you can't go wrong, AND it's the chef's recommended wagyu beef. Ours came as a set which includes salad, rice and miso soup. All you can eat rice for those who need to know! The staff are friendly and the chefs are efficient with their time within such a small kitchen area. ADA - no elevator ... just a steep stairway, so FYI... Final note, I read in one of the reviews, that they only take cash. Not anymore. All major credit cards are accepted including: AMEX, MC, VISA, Discover and JCB to name a few. Enjoy and if your budget allows go for the top tier set like I did ... it's worth it, especially if it's your one and done visit in Kichijoji!More

It was our first time in Mitaka and we wanted to try a steak. It was by accident we landed here. It's a tiny little place and because we booked early we were able to get a seat. The steaks are prepared in front of...you and they really literally melt in your mouth. They were not cheap but as a treat were worth every cent. They don't take credit cards so make sure you have enough cash!More

My family and I love ‘wagyu’ and we are regular patrons of this restaurant as we live not too far away. Our nth meal here and it always meets, if not exceeds our expectations. We got the 200gr and it melted in our mouths. Arigatou...for always satisfying our ‘wagyu’ cravings! ‘Til next time!More

The place was kind of small so you would need to make a reservation in advance to make sure you have seats. The food is a bit pricey by my standards but it was really good. The steak was cooked perfectly and the other courses...were good as well.More

We came in with high expectations after a strong recommendation by a family member, and Satou exceeded them on every count. The steak is cooked to perfection, the starters are little gastronomical miracles themselves, and the staff are attentive but unobtrusive. Truly spectacular.

Access: from train station, use north exit and cross the traffic lights to the covered mall Location: about 2-3 minutes from station you will see the satou shop selling croquette. The steakhouse is upstairs next to it. A steep flight of stairs brings you to...a 16 seater (tables and counter) Menu : English menu is available Food: beef served with rice, miso soup, salad and pickles. Drinks: wine , beer and tea available Service: prompt & friendly. Smattering of passable English Verdict: excellent matsusaka beef (160gm) at ¥10,000. If you're looking for high quality steak but on a budget, i would recommend this place. You have to come early if you want to get the best seat (for be by the bar - where you can see the steaks being cooked). It's a...small place so be ready to smell savoury right after. =)More

Eat here 2-3 times a week every japan trip (alternate month..!). Small place on 2nd floor, barely seats 15 pax (5 @ counter). Downstairs butcher with long queue for famous beef croquette. Opens 11 to 7pm. Cash only. English menu chef recommendation is the ¥4000...120 gram plate. Comes with soup and unlimited rice. Oh yes, beef comes with bean sprouts..the best. You can also order a glass of red wine. Frankly speaking; have eaten here more than 20 times since my son moved here from fukuoka. Still loving it.... P.s: google steak house saou kichijojiMore

We arrived at Steakhouse Satou for lunch on a Tuesday. There was no line for the restaurant upstairs but the crowd was huge for the beef croquette. As we were interested in the steak, we proceed upstairs being mindful of the narrow staircase. It could...be hazardous for big people. The steak was unbelievably good. We share the 4000 yen and 7000 yen set and we could definitely tell the difference. If there is another chance, we would try the 10000 yen fillet. My wife was so satisfied by it, it's hard to find a steakhouse we could enjoy now and that's not an exaggeration. We thought we couldn't do fine steaks for less than 10000 yen pax but Satou proved us wrong.More

Most of the reviews for this place are for the beef croquette downstairs of this restaurant. Upstairs is the sit-down Matsuzaka beef wonderland. Given the price difference between the two floors, it makes sense that most people stick to the croquettes. However, given the time...and budget, I would recommend getting some of the best Matsuzaka beef you can find. It brings a bit of a tear to the eye recollecting the flavor.More

We came here for the beef croquettes at the stall below the actual restaurant. We found this place from a recommendation from a youtuber and it did not disappoint. I think they were selling one croquette for 260 yen but if you bought 5 it's...1000 yen. We bought 5. They were super fresh, hot and juicy. If you LOVE beef - this will not disappoint. It's super beefy. For me, it was to the point where I kind of wish I had something to cover up the beefy taste because I wasn't used to it. But it was still very good. The batter/bread crumbs weren't thick at all and there was plenty of meat in one ball. Definitely the best croquette I've ever had.More

Love the Matsuzaka beef, melt in your mouth goodness. The beef croquette downstairs are superb as well. One is never enough! Easy to find location with the help of Google map. Worth coming to this quaint area slightly away from Tokyo main shopping area.
