Saturday late lunch, The Royal Oak, been many times before but this may be the last, cold when ever the front door was open, saw the offer of 2-4-1 but was not offered the special menu to order from so we ordered from the normal menu, I ordered the mixed grill and it turned up looking over cooked and burnt.... Beautiful steak, cooked really well, great fish to start and probably the best brownie i have ever eaten to finish. There are issues but none connected to the food. The tables are badly scratched and wonky, replace them or mend and cover them. Charge a little more to do this, the food is good enough. The toilets need some attention... More

Came to this pub on 3 occasions whilst staying at the local Mercure hotel as beer was £2 a pint less and food 30% less - it's literally a 5 minute walk. Beers were very well kept, whilst the food and service was outstanding. A colleague and I were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived and... More

A group of 17 of us. Everyone's meal was fantastic and all came out at the same time. Quality and quantity were amazing. Will definitely be visiting again. Lovely staff and atmosphere.

Friday lunch at The Royal Oak was pretty busy, but our food was delivered well inside the 30 minutes the bar staff suggested we would have to wait. The two for one lunch menu represents good value for money and the beer was top notch.

We had a wonderful dinner at the Royal Oak. Great starters (mini Camembert and chicken liver pâté), and for our mains, perfect burgers, roast chicken and lots of delicious sides. The service was spot on as well. We'll be back!

The food is pretty good, but the whole dining experience was ruined by the fact the restaurant is uncomfortably hot. We had children/babies with us that were so red faced that we had to keep taking them outside to cool off. I probably wouldn't return again for this reason. One meal was cooked beyond recognition but the staff did rectify... More

This was my first time and recommended by friends..So imagine my disappointment when on a not very busy Tuesday night, the service was poor and the food was not that good. Plus had to wait half an hour for a coffee..

Four of us plus a six year old enjoyed a great lunch - two had traditional roast beef with all the trimmings, one roast pork with crackling and one baked salmon with ratatouille plus a child's meal. All beautifully cooked, hot and faultless. The staff were all delightful and extremely efficient. If you are looking for a traditional warm and... More

Have visited many times and always found a warm welcome. Two for one lunchtime deal extremely good value. Always book in advance as a very popular venue. Can cater for large parties , service is excellent as is the food. An excellent choice of real ales always available.
