Yesterday we visited Old punch bowl for lunch, place is so beautiful and staff is so friendly and attentive we were personally looked after by Catherine ( Owner) really heart touching. Food was delicious, but must say the portions are huge none of us could finish our meal due to large portions. But had lovely time and enjoyed our visit would recommend the place. B.Regards Seeta.

We were members of a large tour group that was processed to have dinner, dessert and drinks in this establishment. The owners and staff are attentive, personable while serving the best beer or wine. We had so much and the food was delish. Enjoy

Fantastic establishment, family run and full of friendly folk and not to mention, Pet Friendy!!! I was greeted at the entrance by the leading lady who was warm and welcoming and more than happy to help, service was prompt and polite, The food was really tasty and the portion sizes were very generous with plenty of options on the menu for all, The bar staff were tuned in and the pint of Guinness was fantastic!! The little touches of Irish traditions that adorn the walls and pillars make for entertaining value. All in all, The Old Punch Bowl is fine place to eat and drink in, really well laid out with some beautiful touches about the place, I will definitely be back!!

My partner and I attended the restaurant for dinner as a part of our Cost Saver tour. We experienced fantastic service by the husband and wife duo that run the restaurant and exceptional food to compliment the service. My fiancé was even offered seconds as he enjoyed his meal that much! Would definitely recommend the beef stew as that was a favourite on the menu.

After arriving in Dublin on a busy Friday evening with no booking for dinner we contacted this fabulous place to see if they could fit us in - as a party of 6 (two families) we knew this could be a difficult feat but the fabulous staff at the old punchbowl welcomed with open arms. The food was amazing, the beer was brilliant and the staff were really friendly and attentive. We decided to eat there again the following evening too as it was local to where we were staying. If you’re in the area and want a hearty meal with a bit of atmosphere, definitely visit this place!!

We stopped in at The Old Punch Bowl for dinner while on a Trafalgar Costsaver coach tour through Britain and Ireland. The food and atmosphere of the tavern was just what we wanted for a truly Irish evening. Catherine and Joe were very engaging hosts who could not have been more welcoming. And being there on a Tuesday evening, we were entertained by local musicians who had the whole place singing.

Went for a walk on the beach with our puppy and stopped at the Old Punchbowl for lunch. The smell of chicken wings got us in the door and the service, atmosphere and socially distanced set up kept us there. Dog friendly which was welcome! Would definitely recommend and return. Delighted our favourite spot has reopened post lockdown.

Our tour scheduled a private dinner at the Old Punch Bowl, the stories and ambiance were great, and the food could have been more flavorful. I had the chicken with mushroom sauce, mashed potatoes and carrots. My companion had Irish stew. Both meals were good quality, though lacked flavor. We both had the triffle for dessert, it was not my favorite and the presentation could have been better. Service was very good and enjoyed learning the history from Jim.

I recently visited this bar, and I am deeply disappointed with my experience. I encountered incredibly disrespectful behavior from the owner. During a disagreement, the owner spit at me, which is completely unacceptable and unprofessional. While I understand that conflicts can arise, there is never an excuse for such degrading behavior. It's a shame because the atmosphere and drinks seemed promising, but this interaction overshadowed any positives. I strongly urge others to reconsider supporting a business that treats its customers in this manner. I hope management takes serious action to prevent this from happening again.

superb Irish menu and whiskey bar July 2023. there are two menus in the Punch Bowl, the bar menu and, if they are cooking for tour guests, the special Irish menu. If its available try eat off the latter, I had boxty and black pudding to start, bacon and cabbage for main - tremendous very thick slab cuts of slightly salty bacon - and apple and rhubarb pud. Fantastic. They have a very extensive whisky menu

I was staying near by and wanted a early doors pint of Guinness in a tradional Irish pub and this pub was just that. I went back later for a few more Guinness pints and had a tradional Irish meal of cabbage and bacon I a parsley sauce which was delicious. There was really good live music on and it just had a great atmosphere. Well worth a visit and the staff were lovely.

Fish and chips were very very delicious. The plate was incredibly full and large. You may have difficulty eating alone. We came because there was live music on Tuesday. We had a pleasant time accompanied by music. Be sure to visit. Also, the owner Katie took very good care of every customer, she is a very sweet person, thank you.

This is a wonderful and welcoming place. The (what I can only assume were the owners) were absolutely wonderful! Felt welcome as soon as we walked in the door. We had a lovely late lunch. We were told of an event with live music on the following Tuesday and we gave our name to have a reserved table. It was great! Music was traditional Irish music; the pub was lively! The owners recognized us as we came in and made a point to speak with us. So friendly!!! I would hope everyone that visits Ireland finds their way to The Old Punch Bowl.

This tavern was first licensed in 1779. Very friendly staff and good food. The lunch menu is varied with many of the traditional Irish dishes. And several beer and drink options are available too. Lot of history here and well worth the visit.
