Had a run out to the country at the weekend and stumbled across this place via the trip advisor app. Really impressed. Good food, great starters and reasonably priced. The lamb was very tender and the Yorkshire puddings were lovely and crispy. Service was good and the log fire in the corner was a nice touch. The only issue I've... More

It is neither a good value pub food place - it is too expensive for that - nor a reasonably priced gastro type pub/ restaurant- the food is not up to that standard. There are far too many dishes on the main menu for it to be a gastro pub/restaurant. The set up, layout and menu descriptions suggests it will... More

This was a real surprise, fabulous local produce and well prepared lunch, we were there in March and almost had the place to ourselves at lunchtime. It's very popular in the evening with locals from Hexham and Corbridge though so necessary probably to book a table for the evening, but we had no problem at all about just turning up... More

If you like grisly meat, cold red cabbage and watery green beans. Then this is the place for you. Accompanied by rude and flippant staff then get booking now.

We eat here regularly when travelling to Yorkshire. The food is excellent and the welcome & service cannot be faulted. The sandwich menu for lunch is varied and the portions are generous.

My friend and I hiking Hadrian's wall path stopped at this pub for lunch after 4 hours hiking in the rain. Despite being super busy, the girls behind the bar very kindly let us find room to sit and dry out a little and also organised some soup (which was very tasty) from the kitchen.

My husband and I popped in here on our way home from celebrating my birthday . The place was really busy but we got a table and thoroughly enjoyed the roast beef dinner. The staff were all very pleasant and efficient and loved the place. Highly recommend

Called for a "light lunch" sandwich after a walk around Hallington Reservoir. My son had their "sea of love" sandwich which he really enjoyed, while I had the 3 little pigs. A very satisfying lunch and a very welcome pint after our walk. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Cant fault it.

Sunday lunch here was perfectly pleasant with good food on a menu which goes a bit beyond the regular roasts. The service was friendly but a bit on the slow side and maybe too slow for diners with young children to entertain.

Telephoned on spec to ask if a gluten free diet and kids meals were catered for. Drove straight there after confirmation. Menu small but excellent choices. Kids meal was freshly cooked and enormous, took half home. Adult meals fabulous, huge portions also freshly cooked. Staff very attentive. Would recommend to everyone as we were very impressed.
