Travelled from Cardiff to meet our daughter half way this place was recommended Staff in general were very pleasant and helpful. There was a sense of being rushed to order our food. The food was of a good standard and tasted very nice. The cost of the dishes was also very nice to the owner. I mean come on £17... More

We loved the Pub! Stayed three nights at Barnsley House and had one lunch and dinner across the road at The Village Pub. Food was of very high quality and the Sticky Toffee Pudding was perfection! In fact, the next night we convinced the Barnsley wait staff to go across the road a get us a serving for desert.

During our stay in Barnsley, we ate at the Village pub three times, eating both lunch and dinner. We held a dinner at the Village pub for our bridal party. 20 of us in total. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. As we were a large party, we did have pre order, but we found the menu to have... More

We walked for Barnsley house where we were staying to have dinner in this pub. It was cosy and pretty busy for a Wednesday night with a great atmosphere

Having come away looking for a relaxing evening in the pub followed by some drinks and then a peaceful night away from our small children we were to leave feeling very disappointed. Part 1 – the meal. We weren’t expecting Michelin star dining, but I could have cooked something better than what we ended up receiving and I am no... More

We've not been to The Village Pub for some years despite living less than 15 mins away but some friends have been going here a bit lately and we thought we'd met up for supper. Place was absolutely jumping for a Tuesday night but not overly noisy and service very good. Food was delish and everyone loved what they had.... More

Everything was outstanding,we had a fabulous evening. The steak was delicious and the accompaniments were superb and it was nice to have bernaise sauce freshly done. The triple cooked chips were the best we've ever tasted. Service was outstanding! Our two waitresses Sophie and Emma were fabulous in every way. We feel this is a pub, you can guarantee the... More

Like others, read a lot of reviews about this pub, so was expecting something really good. Overall, the food is quite rustic, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. The starter of Smoked trout Pâté was quite salty and with a slightly runny texture (the menu mentioned crème fraîche) but had good flavour. I'd decided on the lamb chops... More

Popped in hoping it wasn't too busy, as it was Friday lunchtime and we hadn't booked. Really enjoyed the free artisan bread and butter while waiting. I had haddock and chips which was actually soooooo much nicer than I had in the Noisy Lobster in Mudeford, now relegated to number 2 in my favourites list. (Sorry NL). Service was excellent... More

Well, we'd despatched all children to airports and relatives and sponaneously booked. We'd just moved house and discovered that this place is only 8mins from our new home in Chedworth. It's a gem of a pub. Super-quality food - the type of menu where you'd choose anything from it and be happy!. The staff were hard-working, highly attentive, classy, upbeat,... More
