Have been going to the pavilion for years as we are local usually once a month with family , sister complained about the service when she went a few weeks back but I though she was being a bit picky. Today my wife and I...went, told by the girl on the door to just find a table then we waited 10min for a waitress but in the end my wife walked up and asked to order! Seemed the 2 girls taking orders were more interested in talking! We ordered food and when it came my order had an extra that I had asked for missed out. Finished food then waited for someone to come over but in the end my wife went up to ask to pay as the girl was just standing down the end again talking. When the girl gave us the bill my extra was charged so she had to take that off. Never had such bad service there so I don’t know what’s going on but lucky we have another place we go for lunch at Southwick so will head that way next time. They have always had staff that are keen to help but now it seems an effort for some of them.More

Met up with family for lunch and managed to get a table outside. Smoked salmon sandwiches were delicious and the Ploughman's was good too. Charming waiting staff...we even got words of wisdom and a joke from a young lady from New York. All in all...a very nice experience in beautiful surroundings.More

A lovely afternoon with friends made even better by the lovely setting, delicious food and helpful and friendly staff. Comfortable, well spaced out tables which were set beautifully with fresh flowers. I had the vegan option which included two different sandwich fillings and several tasty...cakes and scones. The food was presented beautifully with unlimited tea/coffee. Staff were all friendly and efficient. Would definitely return.More

Been going to this place for years - last three visits were a let down - poorly staffed by disinterested young people one literally looked like she had just rolled out of bed scuffing her feet along the floor with a miserable non engaging look...on her face like a petulant toddler! Food is pretty awful to be really honest last three visits were two lunches and one breakfast none were nice especially the breakfast! Won’t return for a long while - so sorry Pavilion I guess the issue is poor staffingMore

We’ve been coming here for about 20 years. It’s been up and down over the years and when it’s good it has been great. Sadly since Covid it’s gone downhill. The bakewell is a shadow of its former self. It’s flat and the portion is...tiny. Similarly the meringue is lackluster and yields only a small portion for the price of a small house (even before inflation was a thing) Today the salad is limp, the quiche both depressed and depressing and the lack of soup (despite still being on both blackboards) is irritating. Upside: the environment is still pleasant. Hopefully it will get back to the quality it was 3-4 years ago, but we won’t be back for a while.More

My friends and I visited today for the afternoon tea which was perfect in every way. Table laid with spotless linen and all the crockery and cutlery were so nice. The food was delicious, lovely jam in proper jars for the fresh scones, good selection...of cakes, sandwiches and vegetarian options. The staff were delightful. A top class experience without inflated prices.More

We came at 11.20, from 11-12 only baps are available, none are vegan. The lunch menu from 12 has no vegan options but says at the bottom "plant based cheese available". There are a couple of vegan cakes but we wanted a savoury brunch

Tried to visit the Pavillion tea room with family and my auntie from France who we had not seen for two years due to covid. We arrived around 2:30pm and asked for a table for 8, I understand this is quite alot of us so...thought we would have to wait which we were happy to do. My auntie asked the male working at the cafe if we could leave a phone number and they call when the table was ready which he agreed to do. They never called so after 30 minutes we went to see what the situation was. The male informed us our table had become ready but rather than call us they gave it away to others. He informed us at this point calling was not their policy. He should have said this at the beginning rather than messing us around. He couldnt even move a few tables around to help accomodate us. Not at all happy with service!More

Had an utterly delicious lunch today; my husband, two sons and I. We had two delicious paninis (husband had the Brie and I had the chicken) with some having the lunch box. The salads were delicious and so were the tastes of soup (lentil for...husband, cauliflower and broccoli for me). It was very busy (Sunday at lunch time) but the staff were incredible; very friendly, very helpful and really working hard. Will be back again. Thank you!More

Nine of us enjoyed delicious Afternoon Tea to celebrate two birthdays. The sandwiches, scones and cakes were delicious and many different types of tea were available. The table was beautifully laid with vases of daffodils and glitter. The staff were welcoming, pleasant and efficient. The...Pavilion Restaurant benefits from having a pretty view across the lawn of the walled garden. It's an ideal place to relax all year round and always good value for money.More

We were welcomed by a lovely friendly, smiley person called Becky and she interacted with our 17month old Grandson as well when showing us to our table! Our afternoon tea table was dressed wonderful and the tea stands were also dressed with Christmas berries. The service...and food delivery was very efficient and the sandwiches, quiche and cakes were delicious and fresh. Nothing was too much trouble and we even asked for more tea to be served which was done promptly. We visited a couple of days later for lunch and was welcomed once again by a smiling Becky and she remembered us,seating us straightaway. Lunch was delicious and served very quickly, wonderful Christmas visits.More

I've been coming here for years but the past two visits have not been to the usual standard. A month ago I had a cold jacket potato and my partners was also cold with his prawns looking like the cheapest of cheap. This time the...table was really sticky and we were all nearly passing out with heat. My friend had a cheese scone which wasn't warmed and was dry. I had cheese and pickle sandwiches but the cheese tasted really plastic and cheap. We all had different milk or cream to go in our drinks but they were just put randomly on the table so we didn't know whose was who. It's not the cheapest place which doesn't bother me but if paying a premium I like good quality ingredients and meals. The best thing is the soup. DeliciousMore

This was our first visit to stansted. Gardens and shops are lovely- well worth allowing extra time to explore first. We pre booked an afternoon tea and were quickly seated and served in the very pretty pavillion overlooking the garden. It was a bit noisy..., due to a large party with children right next us, but would probably be quieter on a weekday .. Food was lovely - delicious sandwiches-excellent choice of fillings. Lemon posset was gorgeous and scones fresh and fluffy.service was quick and attentive-individual pots of tea and unlimited refills! We have experienced afternoon tea at several different venues and I would say this is definitely value for money. Not as “fancy” in terms of the cakes as other places we have visited but for the price , it is very good . Would definitely come againMore

We were heading to Driftwood (see separate reviews), but the car seemed to take us to Stansted's Pavilion Tea Rooms. Same Caterers for both, so we had high hopes. Great Quiches with a good, properly dressed, Salad. Swift service. Their 'Historic', Lemon Meringue Pie had...run out last time we went to Driftwood. Just the right degree of tartness. The Lemon Meringue against all others are measured. And our standard Macciato to finish. Thanks all. Hayling SeagoonMore
