We had 'lunch' here. No other guests, lights were off, cold inside. Service was about the same as the temperature. Lunch nothing special. Unbelievable that people rated this place with 5 stars. Prices are comparable to other places on the island. Not worth visiting.

The meat was excellent. The fish was also good. Lovely waitress who cooked too and had lots of chat about life on the island.

On previous visits we really loved the food, and reckoned it the best we ate in Madeira. Sadly it’s changed hands, and the menu is much less imaginative. I think they’ve put up prices as well. We had to sit outside, the interior smelt of wood smoke (which gives me asthma) when we arrived, but the smell had cleared by... More

If you want fashionable places, go somewhere else. This a tavern... a "Tasco" in good portuguese. But the food is excelent and good portions, the staff is simple and attentive, the place is quiet, clean and wide. We were here for a light luch and i'm afraid there was nothing light in it. Ask for the steak in Bolo de... More

1. Coffe Bico - veery good. 2. Bolo de Caco totally different than in funchal. More aromatic with real garlic inside and a lot of butter what makes it very wet and juicy. 3. Arroz de Marisco (seafood with rice) served in huge ceramic top - i expected a little bit more but was very ok, very simple dish with... More

Stopped here on 20 August 2016 for a late lunch with a party of 7 people - had a truly great "prego especial" which is a steak, ham, cheese and egg sandwich in lovely special bread with fries - awesome! It was huge though and I couldn't finish it all! Highly recommended place for a nice lunch

Been here lately after checking tripadvisor. Most reviews raving this place, my expectations were huge, as I love typical restaurants and local food. I rarely give poor or average reviews, because I search carefully before heading any place. This time I was wrong and regret.... it was one of the worst experience I had during my week in Madeira. Found... More

It's a friendly place to lunch with a decent and simple menu. We eat picado 500g for 2 people. Maybe will try the sea food and lapas for a next visit.

We noticed that a lot of the restaurants in Madeira were serving similar dishes. We specifically chose the Taberna because we wanted to try some authentic Portuguese food from Madeira and we weren't disappointed. We both loved what we ordered and the staff were genuine and attentive. Highly recommend!
