After circling restaurants in the airport we settled on Maruha somewhat by chance and were most pleasantly surprised. It’s tucked in the northwest corner of the third floor near one of the access points for the sky deck. We ordered a shrimp and sushi set ($18 USD) and a grilled fish and sushi set ($13 USD). With drinks the total was about $38 USD. The prawns were humongous and the fish was all super fresh and nicely prepared. A nice selection of classic Japanese sides rounded out the meal. It was an excellent value.

I was staying at a hotel close to the airport and looking through some reviews of restaurants in the airport thought I would give Maruha Shokudo a try. It was well worth it! I opted for a set meal and was quite surprised by the quality of the meal and the price I was asked to pay, in particular considering that airport restaurants usually overcharge. The service was very nice and so it was a very pleasant experience.

This restaurant is famous for its super fresh seafood (I heard it started out as a fish wholesaler). There were always long lines which discouraged me at lunchtimes previously but in the evening, the line was non-existent so in we went. It was a bit warm with the setting summer sun blasting in but we sat down and tried their sashimi and their famous giant fried shrimp. Very good sashimi but I was kind of disappointed in the shrimp. Yes, the two shrimp were big, fresh, perfectly fried, but the meat of large shrimps, like large lobsters seem to be less sweet. Not bad but not brilliant either. A pity.

I went in at 4 o'clock and ordered a set of fried shrimp and sashimi, and while I was waiting, an elderly woman was working in the kitchen with the string of her mask dangling over one ear, threatening to fall off at any moment. Mr. Itaba, perhaps the manager? He was cooking while talking with his mask on under his chin the whole time (without covering his mouth and nose), even though the other staff were wearing masks properly! This is a lack of awareness of hygiene that goes beyond the taste of the food. The staff at the hotel where I stayed were doing their job properly.

I arrived at Centrair from Sapporo and for some reason had a craving for fried shrimp, so I went there alone. It was just before 5pm on a weekday, so there was no line and I was able to get a table for six at the very back, even though I was alone. The Centrair set meal of fried shrimp, sashimi, and a small bowl of mozuku seaweed was delicious. However, it was a shame that I couldn't take my time to eat it because of the train time.

This restaurant specializes in seafood and is located in the restaurant area above the departure lobby on the third floor. It was crowded at lunchtime even though it was a weekday. I ordered the triple fry set meal, which also included sashimi. The three types of fries were fried shrimp, whiting, and white fish. They went well with the tartar sauce, and each fried food was crispy and had a concentrated flavor. From the window inside the restaurant, you can get a good view of the observation deck and planes taking off and landing, which is great.

I had eaten boiled crab in salt in the past, so I came here because I wanted to eat crab. Unfortunately, they didn't have boiled crab on the day I visited. I ordered the fried shrimp course and rolled sushi. The set meals here are quite filling, so sometimes I can't finish them all by myself. It was delicious as always.
