Very good food, mid price range - not too expensive but not for us on a weekly basis. Interesting menu. Nice ambience.

Another place we have visited over the years. Not cheap, or stupidly expensive, the food is consistently high quality and original. What prompted this review was one exceptional desert that has to be experienced to be believed, which I found on the €31 (ish) menu, the apple tart with apple sorbet. It was the sorbet that stood out I have... More

The dining room is attractive and seating is also provided in an interior courtyard. Our wine arrived just as we were finishing our starter of oysters. This was a pity as the Riesling was very good. No water was offered and the bread was stale. My main course was an attractively presented "marmite Carentanaise" with three types of white fish... More

Hotel restaurant by the train station. Always friendly and helpful. Very courteous to travelers but heavily frequented by locals which speaks to the quality. All varieties of French cuisine.

Stayed here for two nights with a few friends while doing the D-day beaches. Fine, competent hotel. Good breakfast. Didn't have dinner there either night so I can't comment on dinner. Had an aperitif one evening which I thought was a little expensive. A large bottle of cider, and two Pastis cost ten euro. Plenty of parking.

Having helped a friend move house she invited my wife and myself to dinner at L'auberge Normande in Carentan. The dining room is an in/out affair with a large 'conservatory' fixed against the main building. Two windows about 8 feet wide had been removed and one had been opened out down to floor level to give access to the conservatory... More

We have eaten in here twice and both times e found the waiting staff to be fairly rude and 'up themselves' last evening we were served by a young man who forgot our aperitif, when asked where it was he was very indignant. When he finally bought it to us it was wrong! We had a half bottle of white... More

If you want a hotel setting and a reasonable meal, this would do. It is not fine dining, as one would expect in a hotel, but quite ordinary, everyday food. The price is slightly high for the level of cuisine and the service is average. I expect chefs to produce better than I can produce at home, so I was... More

Much to our surprise, Auberge Normande broke the mold, demonstrating that not every restaurant in France offers quality. Our biggest disappointment was the service: it was awful. The main course -- fish -- took forever and one dish, the house speciality (fruit of the sea platter), was overdone. We would have sent it back but for the fact that we... More

Last Christmas, whilst staying in Sainteny, we visited the Auberge Normande to celebrate my son's 40th Birthday. The Restaurant had a superb menu for which we could select our favourites. Of course, the wines were unparalleled. Much to my son's embarrassment (and our delight), our friends had arranged for the restaurant to provide a birthday cake with pyrotechnics. The staff... More
