The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
The beach area is split into areas (known as posts locally). Some posts are more suited to the younger generation with music and football/games happening.
Do not take any valuables and be very wary carrying hand/man bags even when strolling the promenade.
There are constant drinks/food/sunglasses sellers whilst on the beach... annoying but they don't pester you.
The Forte is free on Tuesdays - a great discovery. Easy walk from Copacabana. It offers great views back to Copacabana, two good cafes for lunch and an interesting museum. Views from the end of the Forte from the gun placements is fantastic. Enjoyed an afternoon here, enjoying the sun and a caipirinha.
One half of the avenue is closed for cars on Sundays and national holidays - visit during these days to see people in cycles, skateboards, rollerskates, etc. waltzing around the avenue.
Stop by the iconic Copacabana palace for a drink at their bar and visit the flea markets in the avenue for the best deals in all of Rio
Most people wander to the fort to view the Copoacabana beach. On a Tuesday access to the fort we were told was free. The museum has some interesting exhibits that gets the interested visitors going off to Google to find more information on the history of Brazil. The fort itself has some 14 underground galleries displaying various scenes and information...
A nice quiet and quaint cafe providing yummy coffee, free WiFi, and the basics. The owner speaks English and a little Spanish. If you need some simple scrambled eggs, toast, fruit, and pastries stop in. Or if you’d like a quiche, omelettes, etc. They have it too! You won’t regret it.
Although the expensive prices it worth if you really appreciate a great cod fish, the prices for a bacalhau a mode is BRL 221 if you order a wine it’s about BRL 80 só consider a total of BRL 400 or USD 100 for a couple including taxes, tip etc
Alloro features an authentic Italian chef and an excellent waitstaff. The maitre d' was especially helpful in choosing wine from the excellent wine list and our main dishes. The fresh pasta dishes we chose were excellent. We did not choose a secondo. We shared a generous mixed salad, which was served in separate portions. Alloro is in the the very...
Visited this restaurant for dinner on 1st evening staying nearby on Copacabana beach, booked it on the strength of TA reviews and were not disappointed.
It really is an oasis of calm and sophistication.....we loved every minute....the welcome, service, food, decor and general ambience.
We booked for our 3rd and last night dinner as well here and as the staff...
We went to Churascaria Pallace in Rio de Janeiro and didn't regret it. They say it is the oldest steakhouse in town, and the food was really good. They come by the whole evening with skewers with meat. Also, the buffet was excellent, with lost of salads and even sushi. My advice: just wait for the meat to come and...
We had a great 3 night stay at the miramar hotel. The hotel has a good location towards the south side of Copacabana Beach near numerous restaurants and walking distance to Ipanema. First impressions were good with friendly service at the check in desk and welcome champagne.
We had booked a superior room and were promised a partial sea view....
The hotel is a perfect place to have a romantic getaway in the middle of Rio de Janeiro. This a gorgeus place, service is perfect, the rooms are a dream all of this right in front of the amazing Copacabana beach. Prices may not be on the low side, but it is certainly a place to remember.

Rio Othon Palace Hotel is located in an exceptional location: Copacabana. My room at the 24th floor benefited from a wonderful view to this famous beach. The room amenities were beyond those that could be expected in a hotel of this category. As for the breakfast, a very good start every morning with a huge choice and delicious food, in...
"A good hotel fat the beach or business if transportation is important"
reviewed 2 days ago by kjellarnej2013
The hotel is convenient placed at the main crossroad to and from Copacabana. Quite a lot traffic outside of hotel, but does not disturb your night sleep. The hotel is not brand new, although quite new in the Hilton chain. Thus rooms does not give a modern impression. However, the cleanness of the rooms and the hotel in general is...
