The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
Interesting public square at an edge of the Ring Road. The famous Karlskirsche gives the square its name. There’s a reflecting pool, lots of green lawn, some benches, and other spaces that make it a good place to relax — and it’s easy to get to, with a U-Bahn station nearby.
It's no more than an ok museum, quite expensive for its size. The lady at the front desk was not very helpful and the only way to follow the exhibition in English was through a separate booklet of which there is only one copy that every non-German-speaking person in the room must share or wait for. Ethnographic museums have lots...

What a nice little bistro with real austrian traditional dumplings. I could not stop eating them. The service was really great and the staff is really friendly. After my visit i became a Knoedel for free for a "midnight snack" :) I can really recommend this place, its a great concept and everything is handmade and fresh.

"What a Wonderful Find"

We had a wonderful experience at this neighbourhood restaurant.
Our server was quirky with a quick smile and this was the best schnitzel we’ve had in Austria. The fish was also fantastic.
We didn’t do dessert -too full- but the plates we saw delivered to other tables looked delicious.
I would like to give this hotel 7 stars; clean and tidy room, very convenient location for old town museum tour, and a great selection of breakfast, which was the best during our travel across Austria. The staffs are very kind and supportive as well.
I can write lots of positive things about this place: I think I've never seen so many smiles from the staff elsewhere, even in 5*. The owner helps and tries to do the maximum to please you. The breakfast is very good. The accommodation has plenty of advantages: the city center location, comfortable rooms, clear using instructions. We really enjoyed...

Was there on a business trip for a week and everything was very smooth.
The room was nice and hotel service was good. Wifi was strong.
Breakfast was just what you needed. Nothing exceptional but no a good overview of everything you might need.
Metro, tram are all very close. Plenty of shops in the area too.
Would definitely stay...
Flemings was a nice place to stay in Vienna and great location within walking distance to Rathaus, Parliament and Hofburg Palace etc. Breakfast was also lovely with plenty of selection and overall the room was well furnished. The wellness centre was also a nice touch as it has a little gym and sauna/steam area.
However, two things prevented it being...
The hotel is in a great location, near the area of the museums, the room is nice and clean and the price is good for the quality and compared to the other hotels. Bfast is good as well but I would add more croissants..
