Vienna’s sixth district hosts high street shopping heaven and pedestrian area Mariahilfer Strasse. The weirdest local building is probably the city aquarium Haus des Meeres, housed in one of Vienna’s six remaining World War II defense towers, and topped with a rooftop bar that offers stunning views over Vienna and the centre. One of the most historic sites in the area is the passageway of 18th century Raimundhof with its small shops and cafés. It leads from Mariahilfer Strasse to Windmühlgasse. For a glimpse into the world of early 19th century theater, visit Semperdepot, the former depository for theatre decoration, which now hosts art exhibitions and fairs.
Pleased to see that birds were allowed to roam relatively freely. Was not too sure about the spiders in the “red lit” room as they had no space whatsoever to move. All round a positive experience but the spider section was slightly irritating. Great use of an old flak tower, which also provides wonderful views at the top.
Majolikahaus is an impressive building designed by Otto Wagner close to Naschmarkt with a façade that is adorned with majolica tiles with floral motifs across the frontage of the building. The building was built in Vienna Secession style and was considered as Art Nouveau despite being rectangular in shape. It is an incredible sight and worth viewing whilst in Vienna,...
Haydn spent his last years living here eventually dying here in 1809 aged 77. The museum is imbued with his spirit and is a beautiful place of pilgrimage. The audio guide has lots of extended musical clips of some of his later works which were written here like The Creation. There is a lovely peaceful courtyard garden which you can...
We purposed on a walk around Vienna one day to make our way to one of the three WW II Flak Towers that remain in the city. With the help of a cell phone map we found it without too much difficulty. The one we found our way to is just a few blocks from the museum quarter and it...

"Best restaurant in Vienna!!"
reviewed 1 week ago by Sarah H
Visited a while back so apologies for my late review!!! The most incredible meal and wine flight I’ve ever experienced. Genius cuisine. Never have I been in any restaurant anywhere where both of us loved the starter that much - we ordered it again before the main came out!! (Fois gras creme brûlée just incredible.) and the salmon curry is...

"Order the goulash soup!"
reviewed 1 week ago by 252orianas
Excellent food and reasonably priced.
The goulash soup has a great portion of beef cubes and is perfectly seasoned. It comes with lightly toasted garlic bread.
The bruschetta is also a great choice - beautifully blended flavours.
So many places in Vienna close fairly early but Block House is open late - which works out well if you’ve been to...
Delicious amazing authentic Thai food. They had loads of vegetarian options and can easily tell them to avoid certain foods such as fish sauce. The staff were so friendly and polite. Probably one of the best Thai places I have eaten at.
I was there for a lunch with friends. It was recommended as good place for local food. And indeed it was. I tried typical schnitzel which goes with potato salad and it was perfect. Not realy new and unexpected but sometimes you can enjoy simple meal if it is made properly. My friends tried some other dishes and all were...
Delightful hotel. Exceptionally clean, friendly staff, close to underground or a 20min walk to centre. Bedroom was warm, good supply of toiletries, and everything you needed. Good range of eating places locally, a 5 min walk to Naschmarkt or Cafe Sperl. Unlikely to consider anywhere else should I return to visit the city.
Cleanliness is very good,
The room in not spacious but it is ok, big bathroom.
Staff are very nice and helpful. they helped to store our bags till our flight time and booked a taxi for us
The room is quiet. location is close to most attractions.
Renewed hotel, soft opening, alreday quite longwas upgraded to a privilege room, thanksroom with modern facilities, even integrated usb chargers in the 220V socketsBut some ideas;they have a nice bar, filled with "inviting bottles"n,just an eye-catch, why not offer your gold members a welcome drinkAbout breakfast:warm buffet presented in four square metal potteries, with really clumsy covers on it, nowhere you can...
We spent 4 nights in this hotel. It's located in a very good place close to the metro station.
The staff is impeccable ready to fill all you ask. The room is OK with all the facilities.
The breakfast is good and refilled fluently.
The only small problem was when used glasses remained untouched in the room dirty.
Good clean hotel located close to the centre via metro. Breakfast was pretty reasonable for Austria, rooms were clean and spacious and the staff friendly and helpful. Restaurants and big shopping area only a 5 minute walk away, (in the opposite direction to the nearest metro). Having made a beeline for the centre on all 3 of our days here,...
