Just south of the sprawling campus of the Complutense University of Madrid, Arguelles exudes a fast-paced, collegiate vibe. The main street, Calle Princesa, is filled with twenty-somethings rushing between classes and errands, meeting up with classmates, and grabbing cheap beers and cheap eats. This is a prime shopping spot where the major Spanish clothing and department store chains are less busy than their downtown counterparts, and there is an array of casual dining options to choose from. Check out nearby outdoor spaces such as the lushly planted Plaza de España to the south, which is often filled with craft stalls. To the west of Arguelles is the giant Parque Oueste, a calm and picturesque park with its own Egyptian temple.
A stunning 19th century palace owned by a 17th Marquis is now a museum that should be a must visit when in Madrid. Stunning beautiful and quite awesome to take it all in. Photographs are allowed.
When we visited it was free. Other times only 3 Euros. So much to take it for a residence that is not that big....

Our Lady of Good Success, the blessed Mother that visited Mother Mariana in Quito in the 1600s, told her many prophesies that came true. This church is the home of the original statue the young Marianna prayed to before she emmigrated to South America.

A variety of beautiful food freshly cooked. Amazing relaxed atmosphere with fantastically attentive staff. If you want a great meal and even better service then this is a must. Fifty euros including a variety of dishes, drinks and a dessert is simply astonishing.
Landed there by coincidence and was very welcome even with no reservation..My daughter didn't like her plate.Sent it back and they changed it! great service, great spirit and above all great food ( we all make mistkakes)

"Good location, very nice staff, room not soundproof"
reviewed 3 days ago by Beats-Travel
The Mercure is centrally located in a side street near Plaza de Espana. It is within easy walking distance of about 5 minutes from the next Metro station.
Some restaurants are nearby, more restaurants and shops on and around Gran Via can be reached by walking ten to fifteen minutes or by taking a metro.
The staff were very helpful...
Great place to stay with family, nice breakfast and quiet.
Not fancy ,but the attached restaurant Casa Mono is fantastic!, excellent food and service.
Well located, close to Metro and shopping, bathrooms could use a little updating, but overall recommended as a good value.
